I prefer using authentic materials more in my classes. Because, those authentic materials can motivate my pupils more. That kind of materials can prepare my students for real life communication. Thus, they can both improve their listening and speaking skills. By the way, course book materials have some advantages. Those materials are level based according to the curricula. They are easy to access and they are safe. The teachers don't have to give extra efort to prepare the materials.

In pre-listening activities we can lead our pupils for the task. We can use drama techniques to take attentions. While activities should be also well- prepared. In todays's session we have seen plenty ideas about it. In the post activities we should let our pupils to produce something according to the listening material.

When we have a speaking activity in my language classes, my pupils usually end up chatting in their mother tongue. To tackle this problem I usually give them clear instructions ang the neccesarry items for the task. When they know what to talk about with their friends, they use the target language more effective. The socond problem is that some of my students are shy and they really afraid to make mistakes while speaking. I usually try to give them possitive feedback to encourage them and also I give them easier tasks to be completed.

I totally agree that the suggestions we have taken away from today can help me cope with those problems. First we really should engourage our students step by step. We should never force them to speak but let them feel free. Even if they tell a word should be valuable for us. By giving right feedbacks I am sure they start using the target language. If we as teacher us English in and out of the class, our students will definitely use it.

There are different ways to differentiate the reading tasks from grade 9 coursebook for mixed ability classes. For differentiating the reading text on the 9th graders coursebook, we can make two different versions addition to the original text. In the while activity part we can put the students into the groups for the jigsaw reading. For low achievers students we can give the 4th paragraph which is the easiest. We can also extend th task for higher level students. We can use more matching activities for the low achiever, but the completion for the advanced students.

Process writing approach is more appropriate in my local context. Process of the composing a text is important in this approach. The students in my local area generally have difficulties what and how to write. Since they learn to brainstorm, write drafts, revise and edit these drafts, this approach helps them to write easily. My students love working in a group. They work together and collaboratively. Since there is a focus on self and peer correction in this approach, students can feel relaxed and they don't worry about making errors. At the end feedbacks for the final version helps the students write easilly.

The teacher can give a model to be adopted. The teacher can put the students in a group according to their intrests to let them work together. Writing tasks can be organized challenging. All the students should give reactions to their writings. Peer correction is also important.

Whatever we teach, I believe the most important thing is motivating our students. If our students don't have an inetrest in learning grammar, they want to see the reason why they should learn it. We should engage them in a discussion to show the reasons why they sould learn grammar. Students loves discovering, so we shouldn't give grammar items explicitly, but impilicitly. In explicit teaching, teacher gives the meaning, form, and pronounciation. However in implicit teaching students discover the grammar point. In MFP(meaning, form, pronounciation), concept checking questions are important to understand whether our students get the point right or not. MFP is one of the most effective way of checking the understanding. They are usually Yes/No questions. Older students love real world incidents. Therefore we can give grammar through a text related to their intrests.

New words should be introduced in effective ways to take the students' attention and place them in their long term memories. We should teach the vocabuaries in memorable ways. We should teach a word by giving its meaning, word class, collocation, connotation, pronounciation, spelling, register, and synonyms/antonyms. Students need to know more than the meaning of a new words. We can use pictures, flash cards, word assosiation, brainstorming. Interacting with students through games is a fun way of learning vocabulary

Having a large vocabulary knowladge is one of the most important issue in learning a language. Our pupils can organize their own vocabulary notebook in topics such as clothing, food, shopping, etc. They can leave extra space to take notes about each words. They can add the meanin, register, pronounciation, etc. To make it more attractive, they can use color codes. We should remind our students that having organized study materials is the key to success.
