I chose to focus on light and dark pictures because i found these sort of pictures interesting. I decided to research low key photographers and their pictures to be able to understand more about low-key photography and how it works. I had to plan this shoot well in order to make it successful. I chose to go to lower marsh which is based in waterloo, the reason why i chose this location is because of the art work and i thought it would make a great background the scenery also gave the pictures an optimistic look. I used depth of field in my pictures so that the focal point would be on my subject more than the background. The difference between these pictures and my test pictures are: In my test shoot the background was dark and there isn't much to see but the subject but these pictures have an interesting background which doesn't only bring your attention to the subject but also to the background. This will help me develop a style of photography which best suits me. In this course I faced many challenges such as showing Contrast between light and dark outside and not getting enough light to show textures. I resolved this by editing some of my photos on photoshop to show clear contrast. The next thing i did was change the opacity to 50% so that we could see some of the black coming through the layer. The next thing we did was to change the eraser size so that we could less of the black come through. In photography and optics, vignetting (/vɪnˈjɛtɪŋ/, UK also /vɪˈnɛt-/; French: vignette) is a reduction of an image's brightness or saturation toward the periphery compared to the image center. The word vignette, from the same root as vine, originally referred to a decorative border in a book. Later, the word came to be used for a photographic portrait that is clear at the center and fades off toward the edges. A similar effect is visible in photographs of projectedimages or videos off a projection screen, resulting in a so-called "hotspot" effect.


Vignetting is often an unintended and undesired effect caused by camera settings or lens limitations. However, it is sometimes deliberately introduced for creative effect, such as to draw attention to the center of the frame. A photographer may deliberately choose a lens that is known to produce vignetting to obtain the effect, or it may be introduced with the use of special filters or post-processing procedures.
