I learned that the celebration/ commemoration starts on the eve- Jan. 18. This night they attend prayer services and then the following day they partake in a festival. On the 19th they wake up before the sun and they sing in the day and carry the Ark to celebrate. The celebration is very colorful and full of life. There is defiantly more music than I have seen in videos from the other countries celebrations. The countries shared in the significance of water in the celebration.
Questions I have- How many people typically celebrate the Epiphany in Ethiopia? Do some people chose not to get sprayed or swim in the water?

I think that it is cool how everyone was involved and was so excited to be there and be included. I found their celebration much different from anything I have seen before, I think the amount of singing and dancing and the colorful celebration is what makes it very special.

I noticed that the The Epiphany is very important to Ethiopian people. I enjoyed learning about their colorful and festive services and traditions. One thing that stuck out to me was the importance of the Tabot and how is it meant to resemble the Ark of the Covenant. After learning about this celebration I am wondering if the traditions have spread to any neighboring African countries.

One thing I noticed about the Epiphany celebration in Ethiopia is how the people spend all of the night attending night long prayers and hymn services and then continue throughout the day. I also noticed how many people celebrate this. Thousands of people come to celebrate this. It also said how even government officials and tourists can be seen. The last thing I noticed was how colorful everything was. One question I have from the video is how many churches they go around and visit and how many miles the parade is.
