One of Montesquieu's main beliefs was the idea of having a balance of powers which is why he came up with the idea of a "separation of powers". This influenced the creation of three branches of the US government: the legislative, judicial, and executive branches. All of these branches are stated in the US Constitution proving how strong of an impact his idea of having a balance of powers had on our nation

Montesquieu strongly advocated for constitutionalism which meant he thought every government should have a constitution. He believed this would have the best control over the people since a constitution was as set of rules and polices that helped to control and govern the people of a specific state or country. The US has a constitution which helps govern its citizens, so clearly Montesquieu's advocation for constitutionalism helped influence the US decision of creating one.

One thing that Montesquieu really wanted was the abolition of slavery. He wanted slavery to end because he did not see is as good by nature, meaning he thought it was bad and harmful to society, as well as the actual slaves. In 1865, the US abolished slavery, Montesquieu died before then in 1755 showing that his desire to end slavery could have possibly influenced the US almost 100 years later to end slavery in their country.

Montesquieu really wanted and supported justice, especially justice for the people. He believed this would contribute to a good society and believed citizens deserved justice in certain situations. Today the US has a very good justice system, for example the idea of how a person is innocent until proven guilty, which was probably created due to his strong belief in supporting justice.

These ideas are when a particular person who is usually in power has very extreme and strong political or religious views. He felt that someone who is an extremist would create chaos in a society which is why is disapproved of those acts.
