When I got to college I had no idea what I wanted to do or what I wanted to study. My mom is a high school math teacher and I have a lot of teachers in my family, but I still wasn't sure. The spring semester of my freshman year I decided to take Intro to Education to find out if I could truly see myself doing this for the rest of my life. I observed my own 2nd grade teacher, Mrs. Mount, at John Tyson Elementary and realized that I loved it more than I thought I would. I want to inspire a love for learning in children, and build connections with them that will give them positive childhood memories. Mrs. Mount is a great role model for what a teacher should be, and so one day I want to be a 2nd grade teacher just like her. I hope to graduate with my masters before I start teaching, and I hope to stay in NWA!

In high school, I was a part of the marching band color guard for 3 years, and a captain for 2 of those years. When I got to college, I decided that I would try joining the Razorback Marching Band Color Guard. Last year was my rookie season on the team, and it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. Color guard allows me to go to football games for free, and I get to perform for everyone in the stadium during pre-game and at halftime. Some of my closest friends come from my color guard team! It is hard physical work, but it all pays off when you get to stand on the field as they play War Pigs and the crowd is going crazy.

I am a part of the band sorority- Tau Beta Sigma. This sorority is not a Panhellenic sorority like most are at the University of Arkansas. It is a service focused group of people who are all involved with band in some kind of way. We work very closely with the band and help out whenever and wherever we can. I was very against joining any kind of sorority when I fist came to Uark, but my big, Myra, showed me that my assumptions about Greek Life were far from the truth. I have found lifelong sisters through TBΣ and I am so grateful to have these people who will always have my back.
