         <title>1970- Concorde</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p><br/></p><p>The Concorde was the first passenger carrying commercial plane. It was built by British and French aircraft manufacturers .It launched the world first scheduled passenger service on January 21 1976 and it made its first crossing on September 26th, 1976. Positive impact- The Concorde made it so business travel  between the UK and USA was quicker than any other travel as it made the journey in 2 hours and 53 minutes. Negative impacts- Concorde was an extremley loud plane that had a lot of sound polution and it was experiences too many crashes therefor it had to be grounded.</p>]]></description>

         <title>1970-Introduction of the Boeing 747</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The 747 was made by 50,000 people. It was constructed by mechanics, engineers, secretaries and administrators who was named "The incredibles". The design behind the 747 was to develop a completely new plane, and other than the engines, the designers purposefully avoided using some hardware. </p><p>Positives Impact- A  lot more people can travel into England so the travel industry makes more money.</p><p>Negative Impact - The amount of fuel was impacting the environment as it was polluting the air.</p>]]></description>

         <title>1980-Launch of Ryanair </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Ryanair was set up by the Ryan family with a share of £1, they only have 25 employees. They launched their first first route in July with flights daily with a 15 seater aircraft. They would operate daily in Waterford in Ireland to London, Gatwick. The launch had a big impact on travel as it help millions of people wanting to travel for a smaller price.</p><p>Positive Impact- It became a quicker way for people to travel which became popular quickly so more people was travelling to different countries.</p><p>Negative Impact- Other companies took from Ryanairs ideas and created better ideas and made more money from it.</p>]]></description>

         <title>1980- The Transport act </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The Transport act deregulated coach services in the United Kingdom and allowed authorities to deregulate a bus service on a trial basis. It allowed  many travel companies to go anywhere instead of being limited to 30 miles. This was introduced by the Conservative government of Margret Thatcher and they amended the law relating to public service vehicles.</p><p>Positive impacts- Travel companies where no longer limited and it improved road congestions.</p><p>Negative impacts- A lot more accidents happened on the road which was impacting lives .</p>]]></description>

         <title>1990- Easy Jet launches</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The airline Easy-Jet was founded in March 1995 by their founder Sir Stelios Haji-loannoau.  Easy-Jet was launched as a low cost airline in Europe and they opened their first headquaters in Luton airport on October the 23rd. There original advertising campaign was "Making flying as affordable as a pair of jeans- £29 one way". Also on the 23rd of October they also took their first telephone booking reservation. </p><p>Positive impact- It was a low cost air line that allowed more international tourists into the UK<br>Negative impact- Climate change was increasing because of the amount of fuel being used for planes. </p>]]></description>

         <title>1990- The Channel Tunnel opened</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>On the 6th May 1994 the Queen and the French President opened the channel tunnel during an elaborate ceremony. The channel tunnel is used daily by people from all over the world, for many different reasons .Such as  going on holidays, or getting to work . Over 4.5 tourists use this channel each year making it extremely useful and successful as nearly 1300 people on average use it each day.</p><p>Positive impacts- It connected the UK to France which made travel and trade easier  for French tourists which made more jobs available so tourism in the UK rose.</p><p>Negative impact- It caused disruption to the local communities whilst it was being constructed which caused backlash. It also reduced the number of air travel as it became quicker and cheaper to travel through the Channel Tunnel.</p>]]></description>

         <title>2000- 9/11</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>A tragic event occured on the 11th September 2001 where four coordinated terroist attacks took place in New York where two planes struck the Twin Towers. Since the devastation and destruction of this event, the travel industry hasn't been the same. There was a massive decline is tourism going from 6.8 million in 2000 to 5.7 million in 2001. It took over 5 years for the city to find back some normality. The event stopped UK travelers from going into America which affected the economy in the UK.</p><p>Positive impacts- Security precautions where taken a lot more into consideration and their where many new protercalls taking place to improve the security at airports. </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>In 2004 Mark Zuckerberg introduced the social network Facebook. Facebook is a social media used all over the world by millions of people. The app allowed people to share photots and videos of their holidays, travel destinations and experiences from all over . This increased the popularity of many destinations and intrigued the idea of travelling to new places for others. </p><p>Positive impact- Allowed new travelers a platform to see other peoples experiences abroad so they could use it to book a holiday at a recommended place .</p><p>Negative impact- It spread a lot of misinformation and fake reviews which affected certain businesses </p>]]></description>

         <title>2010- Icelandic Ash clouds</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>In 2010 there was a series of volcanic eruptions that happened in Iceland . The eruption created ash clouds which covered the sky. The ash clouds caused chaos in the skies meaning total havoc with in travel in Europe. Shockingly the ash clouds stayed for 14 months meaning most air spaces in Europe where closed during this time. The clouds caused the biggest air traffic shutdown since world war two.</p><p>Positive impact- Although it grounded flights, it allowed travelers to explore other alternate modes of transport which promoted local tourism .</p><p>Negative impact- Thousands of flights were cancelled disrupting many UK tourists travel plans . The airports and airlines in the UK suffered from economic consequences due to no one flying.</p>]]></description>

         <title>2018- Brexit</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The withdrawal of the UK from the European Union which eventually took place on the 31st January 2020.  People planning to move between the UK and the EU to live or work will no longer be automatically allowed to do so. Trips to Europe have to now be planned more as you may need to check your passport is still valid to travel.</p><p>Positive impacts- The UK had more control over trade policies,immigration and regulations.</p><p>Negative impacts- It prevented lots of international tourists from entering the UK and working.</p>]]></description>

         <title>2020 and Beyond</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The year 2020 was full of the unknown in the travel industry due to Covid 19. It was the year of a global pandemic with near enough no travel throughout 80% of the year.Many airlines where unsure whether or not they would survive 2020 and continued to be unsure during the following years. This was because millions of pounds were lost in every sector of travel and tourism.</p><p>Positive impact-It encouraged us to explore more of the UK instead of travelling outside of the UK.</p><p>Negative impacts- Flights all over the Uk was cancelled and everything was shut down for a long time affecting air lines and the economy. </p>]]></description>
