Sir Simon changed very much throughout this short novel. At first he was angry, and only wanted to scare the Otis’ away. After the twins had kept pulling tricks on him, and scaring him he became very sad and depressed. Once Virginia had found him sitting in the Tapestry room, she talked to him and helped him which made him happy and at peace, so he could finally rest. His personality and attitude changed, and it was because of the actions of the Otis family. This is important to the story because without the changes going on with him, there would be a very different story. He could have stayed angry, and wouldn't be at rest like he is now, or tried to do something to Virginia.

Plot-Importance

I believe the most important part of the plot was when Sir Simon and Virginia saw each other as he was sitting in the tapestry room. I believe this was the most important part of the book because it was the turning point for both Simon, and the Otis'. It impacted the rest of the story tremendously. If Virginia would have never tried to talk to Simon, he wouldn't have been able to take her with him, and to help him be at rest. Simon and Virginia both had a huge impact on each other.

I would definitely recommend this book. It is a change up from normal books without the visual component that this book has. It is easy to follow, and fun to read. It definitely throws you a change up and ends in a way that is totally unexpected. Before it gets to the part where everything changes, it is pretty repetitive, but it all leads up to what happens, and just makes it that much better. This was a book I definitely

The story is about a ghost which lives in a house. The ghost tries to scare everybody who lives in the house. He loves doing it. But everything changed when a family from America decided to live in the house. It was the Otis family. The family knew that there was a ghost in the house, but they did not believe in ghosts. The family consists of the parents Mr. & Mrs. Otis, and their four children Washington, Virginia, and Stars & Stripes (the twins). The ghost plays many tricks on the family but he has one problem, they do not work. The ghost does the same thing that he has done to all of the families that have lived in that house the years before. He still believes the family will get scared of him and move out of his house. Even with all of the tricks that he played, he couldn't scare them. But the family did manage to scare the ghost. They would do the same things that he would do to them and ended up scaring Sir Simon the ghost! The only daughter in the family, Virginia, is a kind-hearted girl. She becomes a friend to the ghost. One day the ghost says he wants to 'sleep' because he has not taken rest for three-hundred years. He considers death to be very peaceful. Sir Simon then takes Virginia with him to the Garden of Death so she can help him be at rest. After the ghost was finally at rest, Virginia kept to herself about what happened and never told anyone. She felt bad for the ghost and all that he had been through.
