I was super lucky to have had my birthday this past week, this will be my last semester in az so my parents took me to universal and the planetarium in california! After that, I went to the drag races on saturday and I went to the renaissance festival to celebrate with two of my close friends!

I took this photo while in campus last Monday. Right outside the HT2 building, there’s a cactus that’s starting to bud, and I saw some flowers just starting to pop out. I wanted to see if I could get a good shot of them, even if I only had my phone. I think the photo turned out alright, but I missed out on taking a picture of the cactus wrens that were popping in and out.

I took this photo at a mountain range near my house. I had to get up early to bike over to the mountain and I got lucky that I set up in the perfect spot for this photo to turn out.

This is more recent image I have taken. I feel like I did a good job including the details and I bright colors. I also tried to make the background blurrier to highlight the bug.

Between my recent photo and old photo, I noticed a change in editing and tone. I maintained the rule of thirds for this photos and I learned how to color grade to make the sparks pop more.

In my older photo I had a harder time creating a smooth composition. I feel like this photo is overwhelming as well as needed color grading.

In this photo I remember needing to heavily edit because I over exposed the image so much that it lost a lot of detail. I was still learning how to use the histogram, but overall I don't think it's terrible...

This is a newer image I took last week, although its not the best photo I've taken I thought the comparison of the same subject would be cool. I do think I've grown a lot on my skills when it comes to taking photos in manual, as well as editing them to refurbish them. I know how to use the histogram to the best of it's abilities and I'm overall really happy with my progress.

This is one of my photos from our Abstraction unit. I used different masks to make the background black and white, and to add a sort of glow to the flower. I liked being able to focus on and add a dream-like feel to the flower.

This is probably one of my favorite photos that I took during this class. I thought the layers of the mountains was really cool and the way the tops of the clouds are brighter and more colorful than the bottoms is awesome. I also just really love landscape and sky photos, so it was really hard to choose between those for this.

This is my favorite photo because it really captures his essence. This is my youngest son Rennick. When I think of him I think of how much he loves being cozy and cuddled and in this photo he is totally cozy and warm and you can see the joy in his eyes. I could look at this all day.

I'm glad to share this particular photo since this is my favorite taken as it had me apply the most of what this semester taught me in lightroom. This required timing, shutter adjustments, filter (B&W) effects, masking, various color gradings for the flame to build contrast around the flicker, vignette, and nearly all of the tools we learned. As a huge fan of symbolic works (especially Duane Michal's) I wanted to attempt a similar theme myself.

The abstract assignment was my favorite. I originally was wondering how I was gong to do it, but then I just started playing around and was very impressed with what I could do with a camera. I never considered how a camera could take pictures that came out so abstract even before playing with colors or editing tools. It was a lot of fun.

This is one of my favorite photos because I was able to work my subject in a more creative way and edited the photos to create the scene I wanted. I realized from this photoshoot how much editing can really alter a photos story and vibe.

This photograph was apart of my final light room project. I took this picture of my sister in front of this sunset mural and I used light room to enhance the saturation of the sunset colors and deepen the shadows to create a stronger silhouette of my sister.
