Our scenario is about a 65-year-old woman who needs to take medicine every day but often forgets or takes the wrong dose. Our group created Smart Pill Box, a smart pillbox connected to a mobile app. It gives light and sound reminders and shows the medicine schedule. The other group created Medi Pocket, a pillbox that directly gives the correct medicine at the right time but has no app. Both ideas help the woman take her medicine correctly, but they are different because Smart Pill Box focuses on reminders while Medi Pocket gives the medicine directly. I think Medi Pocket is better because it is easier and safer for her.

One fun feature is the sign that says, “If satisfied… honk once,” which engages the community and even gives the bridge its nickname. This shows the designers understood their users perfectly the students themselves did everything from surveying and designing to building the bridge in just five days, taking local culture, resources, and everyday life into account.

On the other hand, the pedestrian overpass in front of KMUTT failed because climbing it is tiring, and the distance to the other side of the road is short. The designers expected students to walk up the bridge for safety, but in reality, not all students use it as expected. This design ignores the users’ real situation, such as assuming students are willing to exert extra effort, and as a result, the overpass is underused compared to what the designers anticipated.

These two examples show that good design isn’t just about making something look nice or innovative, it’s about understanding the people who will actually use it. When designers pay attention to real needs and daily habits, like the community using the Bleep Bridge, their work becomes meaningful and appreciated. But if they ignore users’ perspectives, like with the pedestrian overpass in front of KMUTT, even the best intentions can end up frustrating or useless. My examples that I’m going to explain and compare are both successful designs. They both have one goal, which is to make a web/app for customers. But the thing that’s different is they use different methods.

The first example is X, which is successful because it’s very easy to use and easy to understand. The second example is KMUTT web, which is failed because you can’t find anything you want instantly when you use that site.

For X, which is a successful design, the users can be people of every age because it’s a social platform. The design is simple and clean, which helps everyone understand how to use the app. The features that show the designer understands the users are the icon buttons and UI placement, because everyone can understand them and find the buttons easily.

The unsuccessful design is the KMUTT site. The site’s goal is to be used by students. It doesn’t completely fail, but it’s not good either. The problem for me is that sometimes the text is too small, sometimes the icons are bad, but the main problem is the button placement. You can’t find the button you want right away when you enter the site. Even if you use it a second time, you still have to press many buttons to find what you need. I think the problem is that the website was made by someone outside the university, or it’s just too old and not updated.

In conclusion, both examples show how big the difference is between looking from the user’s view and looking from the creator’s view. The main problem is about making it easy to use and making people happy while using it, not annoyed like the website I wrote about earlier. Thank you.
