Thank you for teaching me Locking the last two years! You're able to conduct a class like no other, and the way you are able to break down the complex concepts behind each move is simply amazing! You're a teacher who is able to not just perform your craft well, but also impart it! The knowledge and love that you have for campbellocking needs no further elaboration ---they are simply out of this world!

Beyond choreography and technique, you've taught me a lot about musicality, but I know that there is still so much more to uncover. If the world of dance is an ocean, I am a boat and you're a gust of wind that has pushed me off the sand and into the waters... I shall continue to sail and explore the vast world of dance, both funk genres and beyond! Because of you, every tues/thurs I was able to look forward to dancing with this small cozy group of 6-10 people, where even if I failed to catch the choreo fully, I still had a joyous time dancing with familiar faces. Once again, thank you for all the footprints you've left on my dance journey, and I hope that our paths will cross again in the dance world!

Thank you so much for introducing me to the wonderful world of funk and locking! You're an amazing teacher and I love how you go beyond just teaching dance moves. You really changed the way I see dance when you take the time to inspire us with the stories of Don Campbell, Scoo B Doo and the other original lockers. This style of dance could have just been any other set of moves to learn, but you elevated it into a legacy that I am proud to carry on. However, its not just these people, but you yourself have also inspired me! Your DJ skills, musicality and commitment to bringing the spirit of funk to people you meet is something that I really look up to, and I can't wait to see what you have in store for us next time when I join the senior sem classes!

But through your lessons, teaching us to be more comfortable with pauses, learning to feel the music, and of course the numerous number times we were made to cypher HAHAHAHA, although I can’t say for sure that I’m completely comfortable with free styling, I’m definitely so so much closer to my goal thanks to your help.

I’m very very happy with my progress so far and much of it can be dedicated to you. I’ve never not looked forward to a sem class with you in it and cheers to more sem class in the future years!!!

thank you so much for being our locking instructor! you were a big reason why i ended up joining funkstyles. during welcome tea, you made locking so accessible and fun even for complete beginners. it was that welcome tea class that gave me the confidence that funkstyles is super encouraging and accepting of anyone and everyone, regardless of how experienced they are in dance. i also appreciate all the stories and videos you share with us about locking and its history. being able to understand the origins and the meaning behind the dance allowed me to appreciate and love it so much more. your pure, unapologetic passion and love for funk is so inspiring and infectious! can't wait to learn more from you :)

and i want to THANK YOU because at the heart of it all, you made it possible, you welcomed all of us, stressed the importance of being an inclusive, safe, and wholesome community, made all the sessions fun and enjoyable, gave me the confidence, or rather, inspired me to become confident, and really shared with us you PURE LOVE and PASSION for dance... I think i am really not overstating things when I say you & funkstyles have made my past first year in uni SO much better, and quite honestly, I don't know where I'd be if it wasn't for this community

I used to be the type of guy who needs to have friends with me in order to try new stuff, but the way you passionately describe the funk culture, the way I can see how much you love this dance, somehow inspired me so much that it overcame all my insecurities and made me stay despite the friends who came with me to funkstyles initially all leaving.

"To learn to be comfortable being uncomfortable" your statement still hits me deep in my soul till this day. I will never not be nervous whenever I step into a cypher or enter a battle, but I know that I need to be present, because only true growth happens outside of my comfort zone. And the more I cypher, I realise the more I start to express my true self, behind the many layers of masks I put on.

The leap of faith is always worth the risk. Thank you for introducing campbellocking to me, because it came at the right time when I was feeling the lowest, and directionless and looking for a purpose in life.

And now I find myself applying these concepts outside of dance, and taking these risks in other areas of my life that I would never dare do... like uhhh... romance 👀. But I'll miss you a lot when I go for exchange next sem, and will always take your lessons with me wherever I go.

When you see the message, our last junior class should have started already, so you can see a room of people wearing button-up + shorts + cap/bucket hat, not sure if anybody managed to get a folded bike hehehe. The first impression you gave me was very funky--even though i didn't think of this word then, and later you did prove to us that you are truly for the culture. I love the funk culture sharing session from time to time (I have to admit that sometimes I like it because I can sit down after shagging out). For the first time in my dancing journey from childhood, I feel so connected to the history and the people who created them. This opened a whole new world us, where we feel part of the culture and even more bonded with people in this community.

Ending our journey as a junior is somewhat sad, but it marks a more exciting start. I feel really lucky and blessed that I can keep learning from you and even get more chances to interact with you in the coming year. So thank you once again for the amazing year you have spent with us, and let's cheer for the upcoming journey, which will definitely be even more impressive, more awesome, AND FUNKIER!

For dance, I really really appreciate your style, your insane musicality and creativity, everytime when you goes back to drums and the rhythms it amazed me how you interpret the music so well. And I really really love the cypher labbing session which you give us comments. I gained a lot confidence from it, and when u mouth the sounds and drums and we freestyle to it, I feel that I did better and I improved and maybe that’s the magic of your rhythms.

For EXCO wise, really appreciate that you check on us here and there, and your words really encourages us to push on. You might not know but everytime you ask me how I was doing and whether we are ok I gets really touched, because everyone is seeing us doing well but you and robin could see the stress and sacrifices behind it, and it really gives me the energy to continue doing what I do.

Thank you for all the support for the event, still rmb the day of OSN I called you and you answered with a sick voice.. Thank you for still push on and support our OSN to the best you can despite you have an event until 2am the previous day, thank you for your heartand effort for funkstyles as always. Thank you for being someone who loves the people and community. It is really heart warming to see and feel your love for us, its beyond dance and work. Appreciate to have you as our instructor.
