My name is King James I, and I am the first Puritan King who took over England after the great Queen Elizabeth died. I am known for having the Bible translated into English for the first time and we called it the King James Bible. One of my biggest successes as ruler was founding Jamestown in the newly acquired lands of America.

Over the course of my rule as King, I had issues dealing with Parliament regarding matters of religion, governance, and taxation, which led to me dissolving Parliament. Due to my feud with Parliament, the English Civil War began under my rule, with my opponents being led by Oliver Cromwell who defeated me.

Some saw me as a military dictator, but my vision for England's future included building a puritanical society, establishing social control, and establishing England as the dominant power in Europe.

I started the Restoration period when I restored the Monarchy, but during my rule problems like the Black Plague and the Great Fire of London affected my legacy. In a noble effort to fix the damage caused to England following the Civil War, I published a Declaration of Indulgence, pushing a policy of tolerance in England.

Being King Charles II's brother, I began my rule over England in 1685 as the last Roman Catholic King. Because of my religion, I faced push back and other issues. Under my rule, the Glorious Revolution of England started, which ended with the people overthrowing me as King. Following the revolution, was the creation of a Bill of Rights, and a Constitutional Monarchy.

Mary (1688-1702)

I am the daughter of King James II, and I started my rule in 1688 upon the request of parliament, who asked me and my husband, William, to jointly rule England. William and I's rule marked the start of the Constitutional Monarchy in England as we ruled in accordance with Parliament's laws and decisions. Our rule over England is well known for our passing of the Bill of Rights in 1689.
