Artist Statement: My poem is about how I can change the world by giving a hundred compliments a day. It follows a girl in her daily life, facing beauty standards and body dysmorphia. As she continues with her day, I see the signs of body dysmorphia and introduce my solution, which is to give out a hundred compliments a day. Giving out these compliments raises self esteem and helps prevent body dysmorphia. When people are compassionate towards one another, and themselves, this causes a chain reaction, changing the world. Artist Statement: I was inspired to write a song as a way of doing my part to make this world a better place. A few years ago, a group of singers got together to sing a song called, “We are the World”, and raised lots of money for children in Africa, showing how a song can touch people in special ways. After the Covid pandemic, the world needs to come together as one and we all need to spread love to the poor, sick, hungry, and lonely. We cannot let our world go down. Artist Statement: Have you ever watched the video ‘The Plastic Choked Dolphins’? I watched it and I was pretty shocked and very upset. My favorite animal was caught in trash bags. Artist Statement: During the pandemic, it was proven that not using gas on cars can clear the sky and air pollution. In my drawing, many people are walking to school, riding scooters or bicycles, and some are even parachuting to school. If you look closely, you will find several little pictures of me going to school without causing any pollution. Artist Statement: I can change the world by challenging society's standards and stereotypes. My artwork shows that we have so many more aspects and characteristics than what society has set aside. Colors, culture, gender, race, identity, or background cannot measure or define who we truly are.
