We won't always have time to do so but I find it helpful to be specific in the comment section of the PRIDE ticket. For example: "I appreciated how you showed the effort to obtain makeup assignments. That's responsibility!" I notice students stop to read and think about it rather than shove a blank ticket in their bag.

I have given out more PRIDE tickets in the past two weeks than I did all last year. I am embracing the process and excited to see the results. So far I have really been focused on students being on time. So if they show up on time they are getting a PRIDE Ticket. An area where I could improve would be those spontaneous moments in the classroom, when a student does or says something great.

We have been using three different rewards systems in our class. We pass out tickets during class for good behavior. They can be used to buy snacks or they can be converted into Pride Bucks. We also pass out stars at the end of class for students that did a good job. If they get enough stars on their card, we will get them something they want.

My student realized that the disruptive student was in my class right before his class. He held that student accountable by obtaining the students name and giving it to the other teacher. They are starting to police themselves!

Since I have been using the PRIDE tickets as a way to earn permission to do things like use the restroom, sit by a friend for a day, or get an extension on an assignment I not only have less students repeatedly asking for special privileges, but many more kids asking how they can EARN privileges. That's what I call right thinking.

I've noticed that several students have a specific place where they keep their pride tickets such as an extra pencil pouch.
Pride tickets are what kids use to use the restroom (just one) and they can also redeem bonus points with each ticket as well.
