In this article I found evidence that supported my inference that people turn to drugs to be happy over sad or lonely. The fourth point says “Addiction often starts when an individual feels lonely. They turn to drugs and alcohol thinking that it will fill a void that they have been living with.” Which is saying in some cases people turn to drugs to stop being lonely aka to be happier.

• In this article I found more evidence that supports my inference because the second paragraph states “Some people are more drawn to risk taking than others. They may use drugs to fit in with their social group or to help them cope...” If they are using drugs to cope that means they have something to cope with, which shows they may be unhappy and are using drugs to get happier and more relaxed.

• This article says “LSD and hallucinogens are also escape drugs, often used by young people who feel misunderstood and may long to escape to a more idealistic, kind world.” which shows that teenagers often go to drugs because they are unhappy and misunderstood and they long for a kind world which makes people happier.
