Upton Sinclair is a good citizen because he followed the laws of the early 1900s but knew when action had to be taken against them. Sinclair possessed a strong moral compass, and, as a muckraker, he exposed some of the corrupt and substandard practices in the United States. His book The Jungle showed the dangerous and unsanitary conditions in the meat industry. Blake has spent a lot of her life bettering the United States. Like in Chicago he raises 2.2 million dollars for 20 CPS schools. He also donates 1 million dollars to Chicago public schools. Personally, a good citizen is someone who stands up against unjust laws and public bigotry from a higher social, economical, and political power that blandly oppresses people. A good citizen is someone who translate their passion of civil disobedience through action. And those actions are most times are meant to make the majority feel uncomfortable. 

A perfect example is, Colin Kaepernick. He is a good citizen because he is standing up in front of the most political sport in history. Currently, Kaepernick has planned to donate a total of 1 million dollars to different oppressed communities who have a low income and mostly black and non white people of color. Eunice Kennedy Shriver was a good citizen. Eunice was the founder of the Special Olympics, formally known as Camp Shriver. She had a sister with an intellectual disability and through hard work and persistence she founded a camp and soon to be national non-profit organization. In the 1960s there were very little to no camps or education available to those with mental or physical disabilities which not only made life hard on the parent but on the child as well. The efforts that Eunice forwent were amazing, she took criticism and did not let it bring her down. She fought for the rights of those who did not have a voice and encouraged support from the spectrum of our country. Eunice took her name as a Kennedy and put it to good use. Dr. Alber Schweitzer, a renowned medical missionary, I would describe as a good citizen. He decided to become a physician and went to Africa to help those who were sick. He set up a small hospital set up by the Paris Missionary Society. His wife became a nurse to help him. In their first 9 months, they treated more than 2,000 patients. As years passed by, the hospital grew by leaps and bounds. By the time of his death, the compound comprised 70 buildings, 350 beds and a leper colony for 200. Dr. Schweitzer became famous for giving benefit concerts and lectures in Europe as a means of fundraising for his hospital back in Africa. His philosophy, he often stated, was built upon the principle of a "reverence for life" and the religious and ethical imperatives of helping others. I hope to one day become a physician and help those in need out there such as in Africa or other countries where physicians are needed.

Before Dwight Eisenhower became the 34th President of the U.S., he served in WWI & WWII. During his service during both world wars, he demonstrated fighting for what was morally right, especially during the second war. He was a five-star general in the U.S. and served as supreme commander of the Allies Expeditionary Forces in Europe. He also organized a series of different operations during the war as well. Dwight D. Eisenhower knew what Hitler and his Third-Reich were doing was absolutely devastating, unacceptable, and  immoral in every way possible. He and his fellow men fought against the Nazis to regain the freedoms of every individual underneath Hitler’s regime. Eisenhower eventually became president a few years after the WWII had ended, and also contributed to Cold War tensions, desegregating the military, LGBT civil rights, and brought the Korean War to an end.
