Cuba has a very strong petroleum industry which is very valuable as far as trade with neighboring countries such as Venezuela. The petroleum industry is most certainly a bulk-reducing industry, taking the process of refinery into consideration. Taking this into account, petroleum plants should be closer to resources, because the transport of petroleum resources costs more on average than the transport of the final product.

When Germany comes to mind, many may think of the very prominent vehicle industry. Leading brands that claim Germany as their homeland include Audi, BMW, and Volkswagen. The vehicle industry is a bulk-gaining one because of the heavy final product that could be a car, truck, or van. Because vehicles are quite heavy, the manufacturers in Germany would much rather be closer to consumers than resources because of hefty transportation costs.

This industry is definitely a bulk gaining one. As a result, South Korean electronics manufacturers would much rather be closer to their customers than be closer to their resources. This is because electronics are expensive to ship long distances.

Germany is a very desirable place to live with thriving industries and subsequently a pretty well off economy. Based on these observations my prediction is that Germany is in stage 5 of Rostow's development model (age of mass consumption). The reason I make this prediction is because of Germany's flourishing economy, which Rostow included as a major detail describing any country in stage 5. After research, it turns out that I was also correct on Germany's position on Rostow's stage of development, and Germany is classified as having very high human development.

Rostow when describing countries in stage 5 of the development model claimed that these countries flourish in a capitalist state and is characterized by mass production and consumerism. Therefore, I would put the United States in stage 5 of the development model. In conclusion, the United States is considered to be in stage 5 of Rostow's development model.

South Korea is without a doubt a more developed country, or MDC. South Korea's strongest attribute, or best statistic is its life expectancy, which comes in at a very solid 83 years. This statistic in particular contributes to South Korea's status as a developed country because of wisdom being past down and a strong presence of older generations in South Korean society. If I were to guess where South Korea was ranked globally in the gender gap index I would guess pretty, low; in the 90's most likely. South Korea doesn't have the worst gender discrimination, but Korean society seems to favor stay at home moms and a working father quite adamantly. I was a little off, and ultimately South Korea is ranked 108 in the global gender gap index.

As a more developed country, Cuba's best attribute or statistic is the average years of schooling, which is roughly 14 years. As a country with a very high literacy rate, it is no surprise this is Cuba's best statistic. I predict that Cuba will be fairly high (top 45) as far as the gender gap index. This is because of decreasing wage gaps throughout the country and high education rates for both genders. Cuba happens to be 31 on the global scale of the gender gap index, which seems very fair to me.
