You are so creative and talented. You can draw, paint, write, do crafts and play a number of instruments. You create beauty and delight in beauty.  I don’t know anyone who can ooh and ahh like you, when seeing a beautiful sunset or even seemingly little things most people take for granted.  You are always so appreciative, optimistic and upbeat.  And so much fun to be with to boot. That must be your secret for looking forever young!

 

I envied your incomparable relationship with Nanay.  You were not just her beloved daughter-in-law -- you were her best friend, her barkada. You were her perennial and patient companion at home, at work and at play.  It is not really envy I felt, it was, and will always be, eternal gratitude for being there for both Nanay and Tatay, when we all flew the coop.

 

How does it feel to have an only child?  Let’s count the ways together! I know how worried you were when Pia decided she would be a Jesuit volunteer.  You told me how you cried when you read what Pia wrote in a book recounting her other-worldly experiences going to far-flung places in flimsy buses as a JV.  But as mothers, we learned how to let go, to let our daughters take risks and chase their dreams.  Kudos to you, Jossette, for producing a wonderful, admirable, equally multitalented human being like Pia. Kanino pa nag-mana???

 

And of course, you are the Super Wife and Companion to Kuyang — who laughs at his jokes no matter how many times you’ve heard them.  That’s a sign of true love!  

 

Wow, 77!  Two lucky 7s.  You don’t look it and will never look it.  Truth be told, we are the lucky ones for having you in our lives.  

 

Happy birthday, Jossette.  May the Lord continue to shower you with His blessings.  And may we continue to be blessed with your radiant presence for many many more years to come.  We love you!!!
