As students sort through the data and draw conclusions, a teacher can observe students' reasoning skills and, if necessary, support those struggling. This would be a type of formative assessment. On the other hand, the students' final presentations may be judged based on a rubric and given a score, which is what we are doing in Google Classroom. My understanding of a summative assessment is to evaluate my students' knowledge and ensure my lessons reach a level of understanding for them to get the Standard or Benchmark. Ensuring my students fully understand and know that my teachings are practical.

My understanding of performance assessment helps teachers gauge the levels of student understanding, help the teacher to correct any student misunderstandings, and provide instruction needed to move thinking and learning along. It allows the students to engage in their lessons and gives the teacher creative ways to get feedback on where their students need help or if they're ready for the next big lesson.
