Cyndi Lauper is a pop icon with her hit song that almost every teenage girl listened to in the 80’s ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun’ influenced Poppy at a very young age due to her dad telling stories of him being on tour and helping Cyndi and her team with drum beats as he was a pretty successful drummer. Before poppy started her career in music, she practiced dance for 11 years whilst her father trained her in vocals. Her dream was to be a dancer as her dad also helped The Rockettes similar to his involvement with Cyndi Lauper.

In a way poppy most likely looked at Elvis as influential inspiration because of his wide variety of music he has released and written, hence why poppy has made pop song, rock songs, nu metal and is indulging in heavier music and is writing from a more emotional side of things.

Elton Johns creativity and Journey was influential to Gaga because she always referred Elton as her mentor and they’ve had a connection since the early years of her career. She writes music to get people dancing and also to get people thinking. She shares the creativity of both Bernie and Elton, and the bubbly personality with Elton John.

As time went on Michael began releasing some music of his own and coming out with his biggest hit of all time, you know it ’Thriller’. Lady Gaga was inspired by Michael Musically and fashionably. Michael Jackson was always outstanding with the clothing he wore on stage and the dazzling attitude he’d held onto since being in Jackson 5 and comparing to the stage presence lady gaga shows, there is much similarity and visual influence.

Freddie mercury is incredibly influential to most famous artist and many upcoming artist to this day. Freddie started his career as a young man when he first met Brian may the guitarist and Roger Taylor the drummer of their band Smile. Freddie (Farrokh Bulsara) Then became the singer and changed the band name to ‘Queen’ and coming out with their song Bohemian Rhapsody which made him a star. His flamboyancy, stage presence and journey inspired Lady Gaga from the very start of her career, her stage attitude was very much like the way Freddie mercury presented himself.

Elton John

Elton John is a name that everyone knows. He is incredibly influential to so many people for so many reasons like music, being open about his sexuality, addiction recovery and to people that come from a small music scene, he gave them hope. Elton John had a specific look or a certain hook that was recognised by his audience and that was the glasses he wore. He wore a different pair of glasses for each of his performances. In a way, Lady Gaga did something similar by putting her thumb and index finger together in a circle over her eye. In multiple videos, interviews and even performances both Lady Gaga and Elton John are seen performing together and are both very appreciative of each other. The way Elton John started his pathway was through classical music and had perfect pitch which is interesting since most of his music was the rock and roll of the time. Needless to say, Elton John was ahead of his time with the music he created, it was soulful, it was uplifting and storytelling and a lot of his work needs to also be recognised that Bernie contributed so much to the lyricism to his music but it would not of had the same effect without the amazing piano work of Elton John.
