I have 7 siblings and with me we make 8 in total. We initially moved to New Jersey from Mexico when I was 5 years old, yet my mom didn't liked the winter so we packed our bags and moved to Texas. Since then Texas has become the home where I was raised, attended schools, and graduated university. I graduated from the University of Houston-Downtown with a Bachelors of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies Generalist (Grades 4-8) with ESL Supplement. Yet, she came to me like Batman comes when people need him. We didn't know then but the people who sold us Marvel actually sold her sick. She had parvo and mange that were past down from her mom. This was devastating news to hear and we taught we would need to put her down. Nonetheless, she showed courage and a will to live. Batman has shown that you don't need superpowers to be a hero, to fight for a better tomorrow, to admit that even heroes make mistakes and learn from them, to always strive to be a better person and help those in need.

Many times my students have asked me why do I like Batman and I never really gave a complete reason why. Now, thinking back to what Batman stands for and what I stand for I realize this is the same principle I strive for and teach my students.
