1. My first interaction with other students in a formal manner to interview them was an interesting experience. It was valuable to me because I noticed some behaviors that other people have as well as some I have that impact my day-to-day interactions. I learned to make even the most formal interactions more comfortable and connective.

2. We were in a place generally surrounded by students, so we did not get to interact with faculty as much and we did not get a chance to practice our interviews in class before conducting them around the building.

3. I learned to communicate and connect better. Before the interviews I was nervous and didn't really know where to start, however, when I realized that I am interacting with other people who have similar experiences to mine, I connected with them more openly.

4. I think Sibga and I were able to connect with some of our interviewees more deeply, as they were comfortable enough to share their personal stories with us.

1. Last Friday, my interactions with students on campus were not as personal; this week I managed to make more personal connections. I interacted with a freshmen named Pranavi. I made a personal connection with her as she got to know more about me as well.

2. I don't live on campus so I could not connect with them about their campus living situation as well as Sibga could.
3. I learned to be more fluid in conversations and more attentive.

4. Sibga was able to connect with two people about living on campus and find a lot in common. Since College Park is a huge campus, it is hard to find people who have lived or live in the same dormitory as you. I found this interesting.

1. We developed a list that will help us to find out more about the Mona Center in Temple Hills. This was valuable as we needed to brainstorm what information we have to know about Temple Hills in order to familiarize ourselves with people and therefore come up with tailor-made solutions. Ms. Portia gave us insights on the Mona Center which will assist us on our trip.

2. I think we should have had more time to conduct research about the center as it is not easy to find credible sources in a short amount of time. I think if my group and I had more time to plan and collaborate, we would be better prepared for our trip.

3. I learned key things about the Mona center I did not know before.

4. My team and I were able to come up with many topics to review before going on our trip. Even though we had not interacted with each other that much before, we were able to collaborate and cooperate efficiently.

1. I enjoyed going out into the real world and talking to real people about their experiences and opinions. We got to talk to three people with different experiences and knowledge about their community. My group and I learned a lot about the Temple Hills community just by talking to the locals.

2. I did not get to interview as much as I wanted to. I had some specific questions I wanted to ask, but because of time constraints and unpredictability of the user's length of answers to questions, I was not able to.

3. I learned about the history of the community in Temple Hills, for instance, in the 1970s, local buses used to run every 2 hours. The area near the Mona center also does not have crosswalks for pedestrians which poses a hazard and therefore leads to more accidents. Also, there aren't a lot of recreational activities for teenagers in the area.

4. We entered a salon and talked to a Andrea, who was getting her nails done. She gave us a lot of information about the community without us even asking details. This showed that she was comfortable talking to us and was eager to share her concerns about the community.

1. We got to lay all our notes out on the white board which helped to round out the people we interviewed. We were able to think more clearly about our next steps by having all the information organized.

2. I think everything we did went well. We were really productive throughout the class and learned more about the design thinking process.

3. I did not know about POV statements before, and I also learned about the details of the design thinking process.

4. Our group has a good dynamic when it comes to sharing and collaborating on ideas. Thus, we were able to come up with our POV statements quickly and efficiently.

1. I enjoyed playing the drums with everyone, it was a good stress reliever. My group and I also gave finishing touches to our idea of creating an app for the community. We added some new tweaks and brought our idea to life.

2. I had to leave early for Friday prayer so I didn’t get to finalize the drawing and presentation with my group. I also felt ostracized during the whole group meeting as the girls in my group kept rejecting my ideas. They wouldn’t understand what I was trying to convey but once they understood, they used some of my ideas.

3. I learned that drumming can be a stress reliever and groups that drum together naturally sync together. The lead drummer was talking to us about community and relating our act of playing drums with different beats to interacting with people who have different opinions and ideas. I thought this was an excellent analogy.

4. I was effectively able to relieve my stress and felt my mood lift afterwards. My group and I were able to efficiently round out our idea. We didn’t take too much time and came up with an effective plan.

1. We were not quite done with our presentation but my group members and I were able to rally together and complete it. We then walked around to the same places we went before, as we were able to find people at those places before.

2. The first place we went to was the same salon we went to last time but didn’t have luck this time as the people we were pitching to were too busy doing something else. We also felt like we didn’t have enough time to interview because I had to leave earlier and part of our group was late to begin with.

3. Though we couldn’t get the attention of some of the people in the salon, one person gave us some advice on our pitch and how to get our app out in the community for people to use.

4. Since we were on short time, we were not able to interview as much as we would have liked to, however with the little feedback we received, we are going to use that information to polish our app.
