Yellow: The color yellow throughout the great Gatsby always seems to represent Gatsby himself. Gold has always been a very fancy and sophisticated color, something Gatsby has always pursued. Yellow represents a fools gold, showing that Gatsby may be a fake. Later on it is revealed how Gatsby earned his millions. The color may also represent Daisy's hair, as described on page 21.
"The lamp-light, bright on his boots and dull on the autumn-leaf yellow of her hair,"
This may also describe a fools gold as Daisy is slowly revealed not to be the person Gatsby wants her to be. The color yellow represents the book very well and helps add a depth to the book that may not be very apparent at first glance.
