First one, 184, talks about how graphing activities are a good way to connect words with numbers and relationships. I realize that we have been doing surface stuff, and we need meat... This stuff can be the meat. The section also gives ideas of graphs that are linked to children's literature, which is what we're doing in language and communication. On page 596 of the 441 book, under collecting data, it talks about a first grade classroom that is told to collect data, but they run into the problem of asking peers, "Are you 6" more than once or not at all. I know we won't have this problem if we take a poll at the front of the class. I have also learned that it can be very time consuming in the classroom and also when planning. However, I think it's such a great asset to teaching! 

I will absolutely be sure to use it in my future classroom.
