Griffin or griffon, is a mythological creatue with the body of a lion and head and wings of an eagle. In some legends abouth griffins, the bird's isn't mentioned, while in others the word eagle is used. And it's described as a creature without wings, consisting only of an eagle's head and a lion's body. Again, according to the narratives, they are large enough to carry humans, horses, or even elephtans in their claws. Likewise, it's said that claws and nails can be used on trophies. It's even stated that bows can be made from collarbones. According to the some historians, theese creatures are lived in the Northern mounts.

Griffin in various cultures

Greek : In the Greek culture griffins live in region of ''Hyperborei'' to the north or ''India'' to the east. Also they belive griffins is guardian of the golds.

Chineese : A type of griffon is Far Eastern legends depicted as a winged dragon with a head and body covered with scales, with horns like a deer, and eagle claws. That sight of this sacred animals is interpreted as the herald of victory and peace.

Central Asian : It's a highly elaborated motif in Hun art.

Hungarian : He is an important figure of Hungarian mythology. This being, known as the Griff, is called the Griffin in Europian mythologies. It looks like a bird with a lion's head. According to the Hungarians, it's a bird eats human flesh.

I think Griffins are very beautiful and smart mythological animals. But they are as scary as they are smart. Also I don't know how much they can live.
