My call to adventure was when I first got my schedule to see what classes I had for this year. Seeing what classes I got was the start of my quest, or my first semester in high school.

This experience relates to the Call of Adventure step because it was the first step to my adventure. It really determined what my journey was going to consist of, and without getting my schedule, my journey, or first semester wouldn’t of begun. It told me the classes I was going to go to every single day and face challenges in, almost acting like a wake up call.

Mentor

In the first semester there were soccer tryouts. I made the freshman soccer team which connects to the archetype, mentor. My coach acted as a mentor throughout the season and taught us new plays and skills to work on.

My coach represented a mentor because he helped us win and play well at our games, or quest. We worked on many things to make us not only a better soccer player individually but to play together as a team. We’ve faced a few challenges but have been doing really well in the season.

Abyss

I got a bad grade on an assignment in Mr. Clement’s class, leading me to my “death” because of how my grade decreased a whole letter grade.

This experience connects to Abyss because it shows how one assignment dropped my grade so much, acting as a death on my grade. Yet, the “rebirth” occurred and I went to Bonus Level to get my grade up. Therefore, I was able to get back on my feet and continue my quest.

Gift of the Goddess

At the end of the first semester, I got my report card back. I was pleased with my report card because I got all A’s and one B, representing the Gift of the Goddess step.

This illustrates how getting my report card back was the Gift of the Goddess. This step occurs towards the end of the hero’s journey, and when I received my report card, it was the end of the semester. All my hard work had paid off and my “gift” was getting the grades I deserved.

The Call to Adventure in the movie, Frozen, took place when the hero, Anna, literally woke up from hearing people say “It’s correlation day!”. Her sister was getting crowned and she could not wait to see her again.

This connects to the Call to Adventure because the Call to Adventure means that it’s the very beginning to the hero’s journey and when Anna woke up, she realized it was the start to a very big day; not only did she realize it was the start to a very big journey. Anna had been anxiously waiting for this day to happen and knew there were big things coming her way.

Mentor- Frozen

For the mentor archetype, I chose Olaf. He not only helps guide Anna and Christoph to get Elsa to “unfreeze” their town, Arendelle, but throughout their journey shows his loyalty in their friendships and gives them advice.

This connects to the mentor archetype because as a mentor, you need to help the hero reach their goal. Olaf clearly shows how he was a mentor because he never gave up on Anna or Christoph and almost risked his life for them. At the end, Arendelle was saved and the fact that Olaf stuck with them through the entire journey shows how much he cared about helping them.

Abyss- Frozen

The Abyss occurs when Anna and Elsa finally see each other again and Prince Hans is about to freeze Elsa. Anna puts her body in front of Elsa’s so that she could risk herself rather than her sister. Unfortunately, Anna freezes and everyone loses hope. Elsa’s passion towards her sister and despair towards her “death” shows an act of true love, which thankfully leads to the “rebirth” of Anna.

Gift of the Goddess- Frozen

The Gift of the Goddess is when Anna and Elsa show an act of true love and save Arendelle. The two of them save their town when Anna freezes and Elsa shows her love for her sister, therefore leading Arendelle to unfreeze and go back to the way it was.

These two connect because without that gift, their town wouldn’t of ever been saved. The Gift of the Goddess occurs at the end of the hero’s journey which was also at the end of Frozen. The gift of true love and unfreezing Anna really impacted Arendelle and how they lived.
