I have learned that there are many different traditions and funerals. Some of the traditions celebrate the life by dancing and singing and others mourn over the person. One thing that I found interesting is that in Tibet they chop up the dead and place them a mountaintop. I have learned about new ways that you could be buried such as having a green funeral or being buried in a fantasy casket.

What I found interesting was that some people have sky burials where the body is cut up and place in the mountains. Even though this isn't how I would like to do with my body I do find it interesting that some cultures do this. For my funeral I would like to be burial beads like South Korea does it because it's interesting and looks presentable.

I found that different cultures have very unique ways of mourning their loved ones and funeral traditions which is very interesting. I, however, have not changed my mind on anything I planned for myself after death. I still would like to be an organ donor given the chance and learning more about that was valuable. I also considered donating my body to science a while ago but that been changed.

The sky funeral was interesting to me because they way they put their loved ones to rest was interesting and it was also interesting to learn about the Green funerals. The green funerals I think are very interesting because they are very ecofriendly and help the planet. It was also interesting to learn about the fact that you can donate your body to science and that it is done right here at the University of Rochester. Based off what I learned today the only thing I would change and consider for my funeral is to have a green funeral.

I've learned that there are many different religious beliefs, many ways with handling deaths and different ways of setting up funerals. Before learning more about funerals and doing this funeral research I've always thought of a funeral as something sad. Something you go to wearing all black, while watching a loved one or a close friend get buried underground as if it's the last time seeing them. I learned that not all funerals are sad and some are actually joyful and colorful. I also Learned that some believe in the souls coming back on a special day where your able to dance with them and others believe something different. I found it interesting learning how people around the world handle funerals and their beliefs on what happens after death.

Different religions believe in different ways to put their loved ones to rest. I found it interesting the amount of religions and people who make funerals a positive and celebratory experience. I believe that more funerals should be like that instead of mourning it should be a commemoration of their life. I never thought of them being positive because all of the funerals I have been to are more mournful. The sky burials are very interesting to me and I personally wouldn't want to be involved in that it is what those people choose to do and its normal to them. I'm sure that people feel the same way about our funerals and that ours are weird but its just what were used to.

I found it interesting that the remains of a body, after being used, can be cremated and sent back to the relatives or buried in a cemetery that the organization owns. The different funeral traditions around the world that I read about make me want to incorporate other things into my funeral. I would like some traditional American funeral values and customs as well as customs from other cultures.

For instance, I never knew about the fact that in Ghana they have the customizable coffins where you can be buried in something that represents something you cared about during your lifetime or something that you were like. I also didn´t realize that you get cremated after you donate your body to science, I was considering donating my body to science but creating the body means that I would go against my religion. I also learned that some people choose to celebrate death and walk down the streets with music, which I find to be something I personally would not partake in if one of my family members died, but I would want others to not grief for my death, so that seems like a reasonable way to get over the death.

I thought many of the traditions were very interesting, especially green burials. It is one that lately is becoming very common in the US, however I had never heard of the reef part of it. I wonder how many people in the US read articles like that and actually decide to do some of these other culture's traditions. I also think that donating your body to science is a cool idea, and I like that your family can still get it back after the 2 years, however I would much rather directly help someone by donating my organs.

After seeing the different traditions of other when it has come to the death of their loved ones it makes it special how they celebrate and cherish the memory of the recently passed. Every place has a different celebration but it is unique and special to them because of how they do it. I believe that donating your body to science is helpful to those that are going into that field, but personally I wouldn't want to because I'd rather donate my organs to those in need if I had the chance.

Their are many different ways and traditions when it comes to the burial and death of a loved one, they are all unique in it's own way. For example I found the South Korean burial beads interesting. Since they don't have enough space to keep someone buried they created a unique way of using the ashes after they have been cremated. Also I think that donating your body is very useful to those in the medical field but I personally would not donate my body, I'd rather donate organs and help others have a healthier and longer life.

There is no right or wrong way to perform a funeral for a loved one. I found the fantasy coffins in Ghana to be quite interesting. I didn't know about them before completing this assignment but it's nice to see the thought that people in Ghana put into their funerals by making coffins that represent the people that have passed away. Also, this gave me the opportunity to consider organ donation or donating my body to science as I had previously known about both but had never given much consideration as to what I would want to do with my body after I've passed away.

Every country or culture has their own way to honor the dead, and this differs throughout the world. Learned that people will find different special ways to remember their dead and loved ones. For example, one culture buries their dead in hollow trees. Not every funeral is the same because some celebrate the with marches and joyful music.
