Wealth-Building Opportunity

The Ignite Futures Fund aims to provide young people with wealth-building opportunities that promote long-term economic mobility and participation in the wealth economy. They will select 250 Colorado high school students to participate in this groundbreaking pilot program. If selected, young people will join one of two tracks.

Accelerate Track: 100 young people will be enrolled in the Accelerate Track and have access to a $20,000 investment account that can be used for one of four wealth-building purposes: education/technical training, homeownership, entrepreneurship, or retirement. Additionally, they will receive two-years of financial education, and other supports to help them make the most of their investment.
Spark Track: 150 young people will be enrolled in the Spark Track and will be paid to complete surveys and participate in focus groups to help us learn more about their experience. Additionally, they will be given the chance to join our annual Stock Market Competition. The winner of the competition will receive $500.

This program is 100% free and there is no cost to apply. It is funded by ten philanthropic funders who are committed to making Colorado a more equitable place for all.

Eligibility: A young person must be a sophomore or junior in high school (or 16 years old if not currently enrolled in school), live in Colorado (regardless of status), and be covered by Medicaid/CHP+ OR have a household income under 260% of Federal Poverty Level.

RM Youth Leadership Conference

The 33rd annual Rocky Mountain Youth Leadership Conference (RMYLC) will be held 15-19 June 2026 at the Colorado State University Pueblo. The Rocky Mountain Youth Leadership Foundation (RMYLF) will award up to 108 full scholarships covering all student expenses except transportation to and from the conference.

Applications are now open through Friday, March 27, 2026.

The purpose of RMYLC is to provide selected incoming 11th and 12th grade students

educational opportunities in: 1) leadership and teamwork, 2) patriotism and appreciation of past sacrifices made by others to secure and preserve our basic freedoms, 3) the free enterprise system and personal finance, 4) communication, critical thinking and decision making, and 5) tools for making a positive impact as a citizen of our nation.

The RMYLF has been conducting our Conference since 1992, since which time it has grown from 17 students to our current capacity of 108. Our volunteer instructors are of the highest academic and experience qualifications. Our curriculum is time-tested and intentional. Our graduates will have received a college-like, in-residence experience and exposure to outstanding leadership growth opportunity.

Once again, attendance is completely FREE for the students.

Railcamp is a free, week-long immersive summer program where high school students explore rail transportation technology, engineering, and safety at the FRA-owned Transportation Technology Center (TTC) in Pueblo, Colorado. Students gain hands-on experience with real rail equipment, participate in field demonstrations, and learn directly from industry professionals working in rail and transportation.

Youth Documentary Academy Application Open

The Youth Documentary Academy (“YDA”) is an intensive, two-month summer documentary filmmaking fellowship serving young people in Southern Colorado from ages 14-20. From initial concept to final edit and distribution, you will learn the process of documentary filmmaking, including hands-on training with digital cameras, sound recording, lighting and interviewing, and digital editing. Working in teams, you will direct your own short documentary film around a topic that matters to you.

The 2026 YDA production academy begins Monday, June 1, through Friday, July 31. Students who are accepted into YDA will be required to attend classes MWF (1-5pm) for the first three weeks (June 1-19) and then be available flexibly for 15-20 hours per week between June 22 – July 31 for field production and editing.
