There were so many different styles and trends that made me think about what is considered beautiful today not only in China but also here in Canada and the USA. Women being classed as beautiful with clothing that covers their entire body compared to what women wear now a days to fit in and be considered beautiful is heartbreaking.  I am still so taken away by how popular and in demand skin whitening is. It makes me so sad that women are not classes as beautiful in beauty standards unless they have pale skin, and for so many women to be treating their skin to lighten makes me so sad. I never realized how long this trend has been going on for and how popular is was until getting to depth about it in this course. 
The amount of pressure women feel to look beautiful is mind blowing, I know that a lot of women undergo cosmetic surgeries to look "beautiful" such as breast implants, lipo, lip injection ect, but I had no idea that women were having surgery to make a crease in their eyelids for beauty. I will be continuing to look up popular cosmetic surgeries in other countries that are common to specific cultures to see what else is being done to meet beauty standards. 
I remember meeting a women who had her feet bound when I was very young she lived close to my grandfather and she gave him a pair of her old shoes she wore. I always remember being scared of her and the way she walked although she was very sweet. I never really knew why she had her feet that way but after doing this research I now have a better understanding of why. I wish that I could have a chance to talk to her now and hear her story or ask my grandfather about her. 
This assignment has really opened my eyes to how severe some of these beauty standards really are and how far back they go.
