I tried to be somewhat exact regarding the shape I was tracing. I was cautious where I painted to ensure no accidental blending of colors. There was thought put into my paintings, however, not absent-mindedness. I thought my free drawing print with the two trees turned out pretty nicely with the cool spotted textures. Also, I like the color contrast I used so that nothing blended to look like a mushy brown or bland like a peach. 

If I were to change something about my prints, I would make sure to fill all the white space, or negative space, next time unless it is intentional. I would make sure to use the appropriate size paper so my print would fit nicely without having to crop a lot. I would like to make my prints more abstract but also visually recognizable. Also, while painting on the plastic I would make sure to put down more layers of paint. 

Throughout the process, before the paint could dry, I would print. I wanted to be certain the paint, all its color and detail, fully transfers to the paper. • Chose different subjects that had different expressions, tones, and rigidness.
• Make sure to put a thin glass layer of ink on the plastic, just enough so you can't see the plastic and dark enough that you can tell that they ink has more than two layers covering the plastic. 
• Use interesting backgrounds to spice up your monotype and give it a personality. 
• Use other materials like colored pencil, fancy paper, charcoal, chalk, or tissue paper to change and enhance how the monotype turned out

Also, the problem with lots of small lines is that it just looks like a bunch of lines. It is hard to identify the subject that your are printing. I would also try to only use the the small ink press or the wooden one and not press it by hand; it did not work for me so well. while using the printing press, only go over the print once otherwise if you go over the paper multiple times, the ink becomes blotchy and gets into the carvings where you can't make out the image anymore. If that happens like it did for me, maybe carve out some of the previous carvings after multiple usages of print making so the print turns out nice and not blotchy because the ink from previous print makings probably covered up the carvings. 

Some advice that I would give to someone making a linoleum carving/print would be to test a variety of ways to alter the piece and make it more interesting. For example, I put paint on only some parts of the linoleum and printed it---I did that on my alteration piece (1/1) with the color purple. By doing so I thought I was creating interesting shadows and depth to the print. Also, adding different colors or moving the print slightly (off setting it) can create depth and character to the print.
