The plague of 542 is the Justinian Plague which is the popular name for the Bubonic plague and it is said that it killed about 5000 people in the Byzantine capital of Constantinople . According to the historians rats where carrying&nbsp; the plague infested fleas which likely brought the disease over.&nbsp;there was not a know cure for the disease.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>the origin of smallpox is unknown but it was introduced to Europe sometime between the 5th and 7th centuries and was frequently epidemic during the middle ages . soon by the time the&nbsp; contagious disease, caused by the variola virus, had spread all across Africa and Asia as well, prompting some cultures to worship special smallpox deities. In the Old World, the most common form of smallpox killed perhaps 30 percent of its victims while blinding and disfiguring many others and many ways they tried to cure smallpox included many herbal remedies, and cold treatment and special cloths . Today there is still no treatment for smallpox that has been tested in people who are sick with the disease and proven effective </div>]]></description>
