The title of the film is called Dead Man’s shoes. The certificate of the film is 18 this is due to the high percentage of gore and violence. The main stair is Paddy Considine this name stands out more than the directors because the actor is a bigger name than the director. This is the only actors name on the cover because the other actors are unknown. The director is Shane Meadows who this is one of his lesser known films he later went on to direct this is England.

The genre of the film is a thriller however due to the Dvd cover people think that is going to be a horror. This is because the use of colours pictures and the reviews . the text colours of the text are red this symbols danger, blood and death. However the word “Mans’” is in white which symbolises hope, peace and safety.

The way I can Identify the genre of the film is because of the silhouette of the man on his knees holding an axe. I can also identify the genre of the film due to a picture of a scene that has one down written in blood on a wall with a corpse underneath. This also gives the impression that the main character kills many people.

The narrative conventions of the film are the title and the names of the director and the main actor. The colour scheme gives the impression that the film is a horror and the font also gives the
impression.

The narrative enigma or hook is
the main actor Paddy Considine or possibly the director Shane Meadows.

The technical aspects of the film are the close up camera shots and the long shot camera shots and the high angle and the low angle camera angles.

The camera positions are point of view, profile and face to camera.

The special effects of the film are the figure on the cover has been enlarged and the scene when one down is written in blood on the wall.

The location of the film is a British city center and the British countryside including several houses a pub and an abandoned farm.
The people act high and aggressive and the way they groom themselves and what clothes they wear gives the impression that they are scum bags.
The lighting is sometimes bright and contrasted and in other parts the lighting is quite dark and dingy.

The written codes of the cover use such terms as " an outright masterpiece" this may persuade the target audience to want to watch it.

I believe that the representation in the film is quite poor it stereotypes British people. It also only shows a lower class of people. It also only has two female characters they are represented as a mother and a woman who was there just to please the male characters.

The film is made to appeal to an audience of lower class white males aged 18-30.

The reviewers quote mentions the film Taxi Driver which is also a crime film so this would make the target audience think that Dead Man's Shoes is a crime film this would appeal to the target audience because the target audience enjoys crime films.

The fact that several festivals have chosen the film to been shown and to be awarded. for example media and film students may watch it as well as people who like British or independent films.

The films sleeve makes the target audience think that the film is horror when in fact the film is a crime film.

I have a oppositional view to the film as I believe it is too gruesome and I think it potrays a negative stereotypes about British people. I also find the bullying and the forced suicide of the differently abled brother.

Shane Meadows originally set out to become an infamous, criminal mastermind of legendary proportions.. Things didn't go to plan however.. After being caught buying a stolen set of limited edition John Lowe darts, and later admitting to stealing and eating an egg-custard tart from the local Sainsbury's, it was clear that he just wasn't cut out for the hardened criminal underworld. Shane's first step into the world of film making was an arrangement he managed to set up with Nottingham based Intermedia Film and Video.. The arrangement was that he would be allowed to borrow camcorders and use editing equipment in return for him working there for free.. Shane asked friends and family to get involved in his video experiments, but they were understandably wary at first.. After Shane had put together a couple of short videos that he had made entirely on his own, many of his friends watched them and became sufficiently impressed to want to become involved in future video shorts.. As their enthusiasm grew, they were soon making nearly one new short film every month.

And shows the best scenes of the film.
6) The soundtrack and the voiceover in the trailer makes the film looks like a horror. Also the soundtrack and voiceover gives the sense that the film is religious.
7) The director, the main actor, or maybe that the film is independent.
8) yes because all British are different even though they may have some of the same elements.
