I have utilized the resources by chapter, instructional resources, differentiated rich math tasks, videos, and games. I have used the materials for both remote and hybrid students with ease. I also love the fact that I can use materials both below and above whatever grade level I am teaching. They serve as a spring board to further investigate students' strengths and needs. Eureka/EngageNY was very difficult and students did not always have the opportunity to feel successful. The math problems were very complex. Big Ideas allows the student to have opportunities in the first few problems to understand and feel successful. Then they become more difficult. Big Ideas is very student, parent, and teacher friendly. It has examples to help students and parents. The examples give a clear breakdown of a problem. There are colorful problems and examples. If students are stuck on the homework, there is a code they can scan for additional help. The program has vocabulary for each math term at the start of each chapter. There are online videos that help with remote students at home. The students enjoy the games online. Also, they enjoy the musical videos. It has been not only been helpful to us as teachers with the easy to follow teachers guide and the videos to utilize when making Seesaw lessons, but also helpful for parents and students. This has been one year that I have not had a parent tell me they did not understand the lesson and wasn't able to help their child. The QR codes, videos, and scaffolded worksheets are helpful to both a parent and a student. Additionally, there have been no complaints from parents that the material is too difficult or too confusing (Unlike Eureka). The materials and the websites have lent themselves to being extremely convenient for both students, teachers, and support staff. Having the ability to go back and fully access the previous year's curriculum is beyond helpful in filling in the gaps that have been missed due to Covid. The students appear to be fully engaged during the lessons, and while playing the games to review for a chapter test.
