We need to design a robot that cleans counters for residential use.

End-Effectors

Our robot uses infrared and photocell sensors, likewise cliff sensors are also used to detect when the robot is close to an edge as to not fall off a counter or table.

Locomotion

For our robot, we chose 4 wheeled omni-directional movement as our form of locomotion as 4 wheels allow for any angle of approach or coverage

The robot will be shaped into a circular model made out of metal and plastic. Similar to a roomba, the robot will have 2 buttons on the top. One for a power button and another to switch speed settings. Along with the buttons on top of the robot, there's a screen showing how much battery life and cleaning product is left. However our product is scaled down to the size of the palm of your hand (around 4 inches in diameter) We also opted for a domed top instead of a flat surface to be able to store more utilities inside.

No, although similar devices/robots do exist, no idea of a automatic spray and sponge robot exists.
