No... I don't believe that typical testing is the best way to show understanding of science concepts, especially high-stakes testing. I do believe that students could be challenged with identifying EcoJustice initiatives in their local communities and creating some sort of outreach or presentation about it as a form of testing

I don't necessarily think we NEED students to participate in high-stakes testing, but it can be helpful. I do not think it is a positive component of the academic structure and would side more against it than for it. I think these high-stakes tests are no big deal for the students that excel in test taking, but for the students that have poor test taking skills or learning disabilities.... these tests do not accurately reflect their knowledge. No. There are so many different kinds of ways to assess an idea, activity. When high stakes are attached to anything it corrupts the original intention.
