Students will navigate an escape room within zoom to analyze Gatsby's character and Fitzgerald's usage of literary devices by commenting on the society and values prevalent in the American 1920s. The students will also examine social class, history, and memory as themes and their impact on the characters and our lives. The study of this literary work is a profound and significant academic endeavor that will offer a deeper understanding of the era's culture and the human experience.<br><br>This Unit will take place over the course of one week. The Escape Room Lesson will take approximately two or three days to complete.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<ol><li>Students will get two words related to the themes of memory and social class. Students will match each word with its definition or example. They will then discover which letter from the words will be used in the code words. The code words help to decode the Secret Quote, which is the ultimate exit of the escape room.</li><li>Students will match character descriptions of Gatsby from the novel with simplified character words. Matching each description to the correct word will give students more letters to decode the Secrete Quote.</li><li>When students answer the multiple-choice questions related to theme and Fitzgerald’s characterization of Gatsby, they will place the letter of the correct answer on the Answer Booklet in Google Docs. The correct answers will give students the final words to decode the Secret Quote and escape the room.</li><li>After decoding the Secret Quote, students will have successfully escaped the room. Students will be removed from the breakout room to continue to the next task.&nbsp;</li></ol>]]></description>
