To obtain evidence that certain individuals were using witchcraft multiple methods were used to obtain evidence.
1. Confession evidence included torturing the one convicted of using witchcraft. The suspect would make a pact with the devil and harm their neighbors by the dangerous witchcraft they used.
2. Neighbor's testimony consisted of them saying the suffering they went through to obtain more information on other suspects. Essentially, the information given from one suspect would lead to another suspect.
3. The devils mark was a to determine if an individual made a pact with the devil. The ritual is the opposite of the Christian baptism. Typically the mark would be a bodily blemish or insensitive spot.
