There are lots of pollution, and many fish have died. The Aral Sea is one example of harm to the environment. The river leading up to it was diverted to provide irrigation for crops. The sea is now quickly drying up. There is conflict between people for Putin and against him.
The United States thinks Russia should be more democratic, and disagrees with Putin being elected for a third term. Russia does not agree with the sanctions the US has on Syria. When Russia took over the Crimean Peninsula, they responded with sanctions. Russia and China both come from similar Communist backgrounds. They are considered allies to each other, and their militaries work together. China has helped Russia during Europe's economic sanctions. Syria is Russia's only ally in the Middle East. Although opposed by the rest of the western world, Russia supports Syria's government and president.
