Good morning Mr. C it’s David Cubas, i hope you feel better from this illness you have encountered, i miss you soooo much, school hasn’t been the same without you, I’ve missed your teaching, your company, and your vibe you carry with you wherever you go! I am saddened by the fact that i won’t be able to see you before i go to another school, i will miss you sincerely, and i deeply apologize for what your going through, even tho it’s your first year I’m very proud of you for going this far! Hi everyone, Mr. C. here! I apologize for the amount of time that's gone by in between my last message--I've been in full treatment/recovery mode for a few months now; however, I'm never not thinking about you all. I think about your awesome questions, how hard you worked in my class, and about your kindness, laughter, and the truly brilliant moments when I saw you learn something new. You guys truly made me realize I want to be a teacher for the rest of my life.

I wanted to let you all know that I'm doing much better compared to a few months ago. I'm recovering well, and even though there is still some uncertainty about what is going on with me, I'm grateful to be where I am and hope with all my heart to be able to be fully recovered to see you all in August. I keep all of my get well cards you made me nearby at all times, and look through them every day, and I check our Padlet constantly because you guys--believe it or not--are helping me heal with your kindness, so I wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Now, onto business! A little birdie told me F.A.S.T. PM3s are this week. I know we only worked together through February, but I wanted to remind you all of some of our strategies. Context clues! If you don't understand a word in a question or passage, use other words/phrases around it to see if you can clarify. Inferences (educated guesses)--predict passage answers based on what information you have around you. Remember all of the roots of words (be they Latin or Greek) and content vocabulary we covered--these may help you understand big words. KEY ELEMENTS OF LITERATURE! If you go to pages R42-R52 in the back of your books, you'll see the definitions of elements like figurative language (metaphor, simile, personification, hyperbole, understatement etc.), irony (there are different kinds!), satire, (etc.). Finally, please, please, please read the passages! I know it can be hard to sit at a computer for hours and read and answer questions, but you guys are so capable of this. Use close reading strategies and knock PM3 out of the park! You got this--I have faith in your academic abilities!

Even if you don't do as well as you hoped, please know I'm so proud of you. School is difficult, and you all have lives outside of it--I understand. However, I'm a believer that education is important, and test-taking is a part of expanding your academic abilities. I hope you all take this into consideration and try your best.

I thank you for showing respect to those wonderful educators who stepped up to teach you when I got sick. Mostly, I miss you all so dearly and am staying positive I can return, fully recovered, in August. I will try to record a video message for you all before the end of the year, or, hopefully, come see you in person if I'm well enough to do so!

Good morning Mr. c i wanted to let you know that i passed the fast test with a 3! I really didn’t think i would pass this one because of the results I’ve been having with the reading mock tests, but i tried my best to not think about an answer too much and focused on my work, so i will be advancing to 10th without having to do intensive reading! Which is pretty amazing hahah, thank you again for your teaching, it’s helped me a lot and I’m grateful to you for sacrificing so much for us, a lot of us have passed because of you and I’m sure we’re all grateful to have you as our teacher. I hope you recover well from this illness you have. And thank you for your time, we all love you and wish the best for you during these months, we hope you get better. Thank you again! ☺️
