A hard rock band from Los Angeles, California, introduced in 1985. Their debut album Appetite for Destruction featured Top 10 singles "Welcome to the Jungle", "Paradise City", and "Sweet Child o' Mine". GNR's concerts were unpredictable, energetic, and confrontational: that's what made them a great band. Vocalist Axl Rose led the band to greatness with his stage moves, gravelly, and signature "banshee screams". Lead guitarist Slash, Izzy Stradlin, and Steven Adler all joined the band with an "us against the world" mentality. The band had a dangerous reputation as a group of misfit degenerates that impacted the rock world. They represented the idea of "sex, drugs, and rock n' roll" in the 80s.

John Hughes wrote, produced, and directed The Breakfast Club. Hughes presents a touching tale of teen angst on a Saturday detention at school. The movie tackled teen issues with sensitivity and skill, managing to enlighten the audience about teen life in the 80s. Using marijuana, wardrobe, mental health, and dance, Hughes paints a picture of the struggles and feelings teenagers face in the 80s society. The final scene is backed by the movie's signature pop-rock anthem Don’t You (Forget About Me) by Simple Minds. It’s a song that generates nostalgia for an entire generation and will forever be associated with Hughes’s movie.

Donald Trump first came to the spotlight when Trump Towers were built and he published his book, "The Art the Deal". While becoming a public figure, he used his wealth to renovate Central Park's ice skating rink and bought New York-area team in the United States Football League. He became featured in more and more magazines and was drawn to the life of celebrities and stars. Eventually he settled for a career in politics and became president in 2017, but no of this would have been possible without his start as a yuppie in the 1980's.

Toru Iwatani (the creator of Pacman) was inspired on day as he saw a pizza that was missing 2 slices, which made it look like it had a mouth. He decided to make a game inspired by eating. The idea of paceman eating dots to gain power was inspired by Popeye. After an unenthusiastic response in Japan Iwatani brought Pacman to the US where the game became one of the most popular and iconic games of the 80's.
