Introduces the idea of everyone being human, sharing planet, having same rights etc.
Links into discussion about human rights and who ensures people's human rights are being upheld.

Give background on Maya Angelou as a human rights activist which leds to student activity of research project on other human rights activists. Project could be in poster format to be displayed in school or digital to be shared on school media.

This would be over a few classes and links nicely with strand 1 (1.1, 1.2, 1.5, 1.6, 1.8) and strand 2 (2.1).

Alternatively the video of the apple advertisement could be shown to the class, prompting discussion about school communities diversity. 

Class could carry out study/survey of students and teachers to collect data about the mix of backgrounds/cultures within a school community. 

Data could be displayed or an activity of organising an event to show the multicultural diversity within the school could be organised (think students displays, cultural foods/dress/music).
