Spain was granted the Western Hemisphere with the new world and Portugal was granted the eastern hemisphere with all of Africa 

Economic: slave trade- was a trade between the Portuguese and oyo and Asante tribe. The Portuguese gave the tribes guns and gun powder in entangle for slaves. Which were weak tribes that had been conquered by the oyo and Asante tribes.

Social: Astro lobe- was a old tool that was originally used by ancient astronomers and was repurposed by sailors in the age of exploration.
