He finds out that Quirrel has been working with Voldemort and that Voldemort is in fact on the back of the professors head. He makes Harry look into the Mirror of Erised, a mirror that shows the "deepest, most desperate desire of our hearts", and makes Harry tell him what he sees. Harry sees himself pulling the Sorcerer's Stone out of his pocket but he tells Professor Quirrel that he sees himself shaking hands with Dumbledore because he's won the house cup. Voldemort tries to make an alliance with Harry in exchange for the stone but Harry refuses and puts his life in danger.
