Person 1: Hey, how have things changed for you over the years in terms of technology?

Person 2: Oh, it's been a huge change! I remember when I was younger, we didn't have computers or smartphones. We used typewriters instead of computers for writing.

Person 1: Wow! That sounds so old-fashioned. When did you first use a computer?

Person 2: I think it was in the early 1980s. It was a big deal back then. The first computers were huge, and the internet wasn’t even a thing yet. We used floppy disks to save files!

Person 1: Floppy disks? I’ve heard of them, but I’ve never seen one. What were they like?

Person 2: They were square and about the size of a CD, but much thicker. You could only store a small amount of data on them. We thought they were amazing at the time.

Person 1: That’s so interesting! When did mobile phones become popular?

Person 2: The first mobile phones came out in the late 1980s, but they were really big and heavy. It wasn’t until the 1990s that they started getting smaller and more affordable for everyone.

Person 1: So, no smartphones yet?

Person 2: Nope! At first, they were just for calling. It wasn’t until the early 2000s that we started seeing phones with cameras, and then came the smartphones with touch screens, apps, and everything we have now.

Person 1: That must’ve been such an exciting time to see all those changes!

Person 2: It really was. I still remember the first time I used the internet. It was dial-up, and it took forever to connect. But it was amazing to be able to search for information online.

Person 1: Dial-up? I can't imagine waiting that long. It must’ve been frustrating!

Person 2: It was, but we didn’t know any better back then. We were just excited to be connected. Now, everything’s so fast and easy with Wi-Fi!

If I Had Known I Couldn't Win, I Wouldn't Have Tried So Hard

Last year, I participated in a competition at school. It was a quiz competition, and I was really excited. I was confident in myself. On the day of the competition, I did my best and thought I did well.
However, when the results were announced, I was really disappointed. I didn't win. If I had known I wouldn't win, I wouldn't have felt so upset. It made me feel like all my effort was in vain. If I hadn’t focused only on winning, I could have enjoyed the experience more.
It was a tough moment, but I have learned that sometimes effort is more important than the result. If I had thought about this earlier, I wouldn't have been so disappointed.

Yesterday, my friend borrowed my pen but lost it. He should have been more careful. I wish he hadn’t lost my pen. Then, he told me he was sorry, but he still should have bought me a new pen. I wish he had been responsible and bought me a new pen.
