Have you ever thought about how you can contribute to the society?
- Yes, I have thought about contributing back to the society in terms of volunteering. Volunteering because I feel that it is a fun- when you are free activity that can be done. Plus, you can also volunteer for what you are interested in, hence making it more enjoyable. An example could be going to the elderly homes and interacting with them. It's always fun to hear them talk about their past-time storues which we may never get to experience in the "now" world.

What are some concerns that you have regarding Singapore? What do you think you can do regarding the concern you have?
- A concern that I have regarding Singapore could be discrimation towards a minority group. This is because, we do get to see in news where people would dissed other races and also that, Singapore is not as open as other countries whereby LGBT are accepted openly hence, whenever we see someone that does not fit our "norm" we would automatically not welcome them. I feel that everybody is different hence, we should all think before we say something that could be insensitive or do anything that may hurt them. An example could be ranting online about how those mentally challenged are a burden to the society. But, they are not. They too are humans, they too have rights and maybe that is something that we, as people living in Singapore can do. We can all try to understand them, try to get to know them before we form a conclusion about them. Everyone is different and we all have our flaws. One would not feel good if something bad is said about you. Hence, we can all make Singapore into a more inclusive society whereby maybe the people living in Singapore can have more initiative to get to know others or maybe, be involved in community work projects. Also, maybe chances can be given to those minority groups to allow them to
show all of us what they are really capable of. Their capability could be equal or even better than us. Hence, we can all step out of our comfort zones and take a chance so as to create a more inclusive society for all.

Have you ever thought about how you can contribute to the society?
-Yes, I have once thought about contributing to the society by being a long term volunteer for organisations that deals with helping the less fortunate children in the society. From young, I have always been wanting to be a volunteer for an orphanage but sadly, I have not met the age requirement yet and in order to be a volunteer, one is required to fill up many tedious and complicated paper work which is quite troublesome. I find that being a volunteer for an orphanage is a really fun and interesting activity in life as you get to interact with the children, understand them and engage in many different activities with them. Most importantly, its a very heartwarming sight to see that the children are happy with what you have done for them and they would gladly welcome you for more visits. As such, being a volunteer for an orphanage is something that I would like to do as a form of contribution back to the society.

What are some concerns you have regarding Singapore? What do you think you can do regarding the concerns you have?
-A concern that I have regarding Singapore is the discrimination against the elderly. Often, the younger generations might think that the elderly are a burden and troublesome group of people in the society. In my opinion, they probably think that the elderly are the "naggy" and slow type of people and thus, this leads them to discriminate against the elderly. Usually while taking the bus, when some of the elderly needs to take a longer time to get up or to get down the bus, I often see teenagers rolling their eyes at them and some even complaint to their friends about how the elderly are wasting their time and that the elderly are a nuisance. I was really annoyed by the way the teenagers nowadays are treating the elderly. The elderly are the backbone of our society and they definitely contributed a lot more to our society as compared to us. In society, none of us have the rights to discriminate one another. This includes not only the elderly, but also towards others in the society, regardless of race or religion. Instead, I feel that as citizens of Singapore, we should all be more caring and show a little more concern towards each other. As time goes by, step by step, Singapore would definitely be an inclusive society that is full of gracious people with little or no discriminations at all. According to the pledge "to build a democratic society, based on justice and equality" , and therefore, as Singaporeans, we should all treat each other like how we want the others to treat us, fair and equal.

-Have you ... back to society?
Yes i have. I have thought about doing community and volunteering work to help others in need. This is because my father has always told me to help people in need and that has became imbedded in my head. Now, if the oppourtunities to help others, even animals, arises, I would most likely help out. This also gives me a sense of pride as not many people would do this. Plus, it is very satisfying for me to think that what i had done for others would benefit them and help lessen their burdens. Seeing their smiling faces also melt my heart. Thus, I have thought about how i would contribute to society.
-Concerns regarding Singapore. What can i do regarding this concern.
The concerns i have regarding Singapore is how Singaporeans treat other races not included in our three main races; Malay, chinese, indian. Other races such as french or mexicans are often being laughed at. This is because they do not know the Singapore culture and often find it hard to adapt. Singaporeans would laugh at their mistakes without knowing that they are trying their best. Singaporeans would also complain about the other races without reason. This is what I find really unfair and unjust about how singaporean treat other races(Foreign).
I feel that including myself, all Singaporeans should teach the other races about Singapore's culture and help them adapt to singapore and not just make fun of them just because their different

- Have you ever thought about how you can contribute to the society?
Yes I have. A way to do so would be to volunteer for causes to raise more awareness. For example, the Society for the Physically Disabled Singapore. Volunteering there would mean engaging with the physically disabled or preparing meals for them. This would make the physically disabled feel more accepted that there are people willing to help them improve their quality of life.
- What are some concerns that you have regarding Singapore:
The constantly ageing population of Singapore and the onset of many diseases associated with old age. Recently, the government has been very active about spreading the message of beating diabetes. As the elderly may not know how to take care of themselves, diabetes could lead to further health complications such as leg amputations. They also lack the funds to seek medical treatment. Also, the government cannot possibly allocate all of it's 'Budget' to provide treatment for them. The more the number of elderly who get diseases, the more the government has to spend on healthcare, which may affect other areas of expenditure such as military training or education.
- What can you do regarding the problem:
If I know any elderly or middle aged people around me showing any signs of health issues, I can advise them to watch out for their health and teach them the right ways of healthy eating. I can constantly check up and ask after them, perhaps accompany them to their health checkup and remind them about what the doctor has said.

Yes, I have thought about how I can contribute back to the society and the first thing that comes to my mind is to treat others with respect. In Singapore, the ageing population is getting larger every year and more adults are neglecting the older generation and taking them for granted. I think that a simple action of just treating the older generation with respect can be considered as contributing to the society as it is something lots of adults do not do. A way to respect the older generation is to visit them at the old folks home or nursing home. These places houses a large percentage of elderly that are neglected by their own children and require special needs like healthcare. Hence by visiting them, we are contributing to the society as we are helping to take care of the elderly and giving them support and courage that are not given to them by their own children.

It might be a small job but has great impacts on those who we are helping. I have always wanted to support orphaned children who might need money for their education and other needs. Personally, I wanted to help the Canossaville Children’s Home, where the canossian sisters care for young children who lack family support or parental care and those who are at risk. Orphaned children do not usually get much awareness in Singapore and I believe that it is equally important in helping orphaned children. I can help by interacting with the children to give support to them so that they will feel more included.

I have thought about actively participating in community or voluntary work within and outside of school curriculum time.Take for instance, we can help out at welfare homes and collect donations.Through this, I am able to play a pivotal role by forging an inclusive society among the people around me.At the same time , community work will be an excellent platform to promote activism and instill social conscience in youths. There are innumerable ways of playing a part to contribute to society, personally I would like to engage in community work that allows me to work with people from different backgrounds.
What are some concerns regarding Singapore?-
-One of the concerns I have regarding Singapore is the discrimination of minorities /ethnic issues. Though we are a multi-national country, some citizens are prejudiced against these minority races. For example, the incident regarding the curry dispute between two different races, this has spark racial tension in citizens and have infuriated many.In my opinion, I feel that we should be more open and accepting to the culture of the diverse races. We are certainly fortunate to be called a multi-national country and we ought to cherish this status. We shall work towards an inclusive society where everybody is accepted and appreciated.
-What can you do regarding the problem?
I can help by participating in more activities regarding racial harmony and thereafter, spread the message and raise awareness of this issue through social media. Also, I can start a campaign or movement to support the diminishing of racial discrimination.

-have you ever thought about how you can contribute to the society?

I have. Merely as a student in Singapore in our teens,we may think we cannot do much to contribute to the society. However, as a student we can engage in many volunteery events or community events such as giving out food to the less privileged or participating in Halloween carnivals at our neighbourhood community centres. This will show our care, appreciation and gratitude towards fellow citizens of Singapore. Hence, we will serve as a form of motivation and encouragement to other citizens which will make each other feel more included in the society. :)

-what are some concerns regarding Singapore.

I feel that Singaporeans are often self centred and only think about how situarions may benefit them. For example, students may only participate in VIA activities just to get the VIA points and because it's a compulsory event. However, the mindset of helping others without expecting anything in return is uncommon in Singapore. This example shows how Singaporeans are only concerned about their personal well-being and there isn't a sense of unity and care for each other within the society. :)

-what do you think we can do?
The government can organise some fun events with are engaging to people of all ages which helps with the fund-raising of certain charity organisations. People who show interest in participating often have the common vision of helping the needy whenever they can. Hence, by organising these events, fellow Singaporeans will be able to share this common vision and bring back the unity and care we had for each other in the past. :)

-Have you ever thought about how you can contribute back to the society?

Yes I do. As students, we may be young but we do indeed have time. We constantly feel that we are not capable to contribute to the society in a large scale but every small actions count. As students, we can contribute back to the society via many platforms and ways. One way is to participate in volunteer events around our neighbourhood. This can range from helping the elderly in a nearby elder care or even educating pre-schoolers in child cares. Through this arduous efforts that we put in, the target group will be touched by our solicitude and the society will benign from it. Hence, via participating actively in community service and volunteer work, we can contribute tremendously to the society.

-What are some concerns regarding Singapore?

For me personally, I feel that the education system is very rigid. The education system in Singapore is no doubt superb and successful. However, with all these pros, it encapsulates some flaws too. One flaw is that the system will stifle the students due to the fact that it focus heavily on academic studies. Students in general tend to flourish in areas of academic but will oftentimes fall short in aspects like arts and sports. The mindset of students nowadays is that having a degree or diploma is essential and is prerequisite in their future careers. Hence, because of such factors, the focus on academic studies has really constricted the career path of many talents. Forcing them to think twice on their future.

-What do you think we can do?

I feel that the government can make some minor amendments to its excellent system. One example is that, they can incorporate more art and sport platforms where student would be able to showcase and exhibit their splendid talents. Through this, students who are passionate and dedicated will be selected prudently. These students might also be given scholarships and bursary to further motivate and exhilarate students exuberant passion towards arts and sports.

Thank You :)

-Have you ever thought about how you can contribute to the society?

Yes.We can contribute by seeking volunteer opportunities from our nearby community centre or our school as it not only give us the opportunities to contribute back to the society but also might allow us to earn Values-In-Action(VIA) hours, which can make our student testimonial look presentable. As an example, we could volunteer in elderly care centre and spent time with the elderly there during the weekends or school holidays
However as a student, our main priority is on our academics. Hence we should spent most of our time on our academics . This is because when we grow up and have our own individual successful careers, we can contribute more back to the society in terms of time and money as we students have our limitations of contributing back to the society. We, students are not working and most of our time are occupied by school work,Co-cirrucular activities and family bonding time.
-What are some concerns that you have regarding Singapore?
One of the concerns that I have regarding Singapore is the advancement of the technology we are having in our modern world. This is because according to today's technology, in the next few years our jobs will be mostly evolved by using the latest technology. When this day arrives, adults who are unable to adapt to the technology then and adults that are replaced by machineries will left jobless and be unable to afford for their families.
-What can we do regarding the problem?
Currently, the government is now encouraging the citizens to upgrade their skills and gain beneficial knowledge by participating SkillsFuture. There are courses where citizens can take part in to catch up with the time and continuously advancing technology,so that they could be prepared and ready to adapt to the changes easily. The government is also creating awareness that some jobs will be replaced such as Doctors,Accountants and Lawyers through advertisement, for instance "SMARTgen 2017".

Have you ever thought about how you can contribute to the society?
Yes. In my opinion, we can do our part to contribute to the society by actively participating in community activities and doing volunteer work. By reaching and giving help to those who need it, it benefits them and makes an impact on their lives. It promotes a gracious society by caring for one another in the society and working together, which brings our community closer. Example, schools have the Values-in-Action scheme where students are required to do volunteer work for certain number of hours. This allows students to not only give back to society by helping the less fortunate, they will also get to understand the society more. This is one way I, as an individual, can contribute back to society. By abiding by the law, we are also contributing back to the society by being responsible citizens and maintain a harmonious society and ensure stability of the country. It gives a sense of security in the society and reduce the rate of crime.

What are some concerns you have regarding Singapore?
I feel that our society lack of a strong sense of graciousness. In a competitive and fast-paced society, we often focus on ourselves and do not bother to care for others. This might reduce social cohesiveness and our society will no longer be a united society, but a land filled with selfish individuals. Having a harmonious and caring society is important for the nation's progress as everyone plays a part in its development. Without harmony, our society will not be able to function properly as everyone do not listen to each other's views. Hence, I hope our society will be able to work towards the goal of being gracious as a nation.

What do you think you can do regarding the concern you have?
Starting from myself, I can start by having close relations with my neighbours in my community. I can start by simply greeting them whenever I see them or share and have a meal together occasionally. This cultivates close relations with one another and a little goes a long way. This creates a sense of belonging citizens as we will feel part of the community and become a more gracious society.

What do you think you can do regarding the concern you have?

I feel that youth are not very appreciative and gracious towards the society. For example, when an elderly have difficulty in walking on the roads, after seeing them unable to walk properly, we often neglect them and don't find the courage to help them. i feel we can have more programmes or events about graciousness and increase the understanding about graciousness in youth. This can be done through social media, sharing stories and events about lives of others to influence people to be more gracious and open to people.

Although we cannot make a Big difference in the society, but we can still contribute to someone's well being. For example, we can go to elderly home to volunteer, by chatting with the elderly, helping them to clean up their rooms. talking to them and cleaning up their rooms cannot really Make much difference in the society, but by going to visit them will make the elderly happy.

What are some concerns you have regarding Singapore ? What do your junk you can do about it.

I think that the youths nowadays are very dependent on their friends, family or maid. When there is things that should be done, they do not do by themselves, instead they call for help. For example, when students go to school, they do not carry their own bags and their maid are the one carrying their bag. This, I feel that I can help by encouraging those students around me who are very dependent ,to start doing things by themselves instead of getting help by others.

*Have you ever thought about how you can contribute to the society?*

When thinking about contributions to the society, one would usually think about voluntary work. To spend some time helping the elderly, the disabled and the disregarded.
However, in my viewpoint, if the voluntary work is done due to having some free time to spare, something you plan to do as a one time thing, I would rather you do something else more meaningful. Afterall, a once in a while volunteering usually does not contribute a lot to the society, doesn't give much of an impact.

For me, I would rather contribute through being a leader and a role model, inspiring others to be similar or more than me. All countries need capable leaders to bring it up, but it still needs to depend on the younger generation afterwards. I feel that being an inspiring leader and be a role model that people are willing to follow is one of a contribution. Through this, the younger generations would have someoneb to follow, someone to set the expectations, and someone to exceed. Being a leader, creating another better leader, and the cycle continues. In th long run, the economy will grow with the increasing number of capable leaders.

*What are some concerns that you have regarding Singapore? (e.g. education, transportation, healthcare, discrimination, anything...)*

I think singaporeans are coming to be less and less polite with the elderly, disregarding them of their rights as a human being, only thinking of them as a nuisance. I hope Singaporeans are aware that the elderly were the ones who brought up this country, the ones who suffered to bring this country to what it is now. The elderly should be treated with more respect, and not just thought of as a waste of time. Of course, the elderly are slow, easily sick and a little weak. However, that does not mean they are not human beings with their rights. So, stop being so against the ideas of facilities for the elderly in singapore. Those facilities are for you too, when you grow old.

*What do you think you can do regarding the concern you have?*

Be the first one to act. A lot of people have the same thinking to help, but some are just afraid to step up, afraid to be different. When another steps up and leads, those people who are afraid will be more confident in helping, as there are no longer alone. Be the first one to start, and lead people along to help others as well, is what I can do regarding my concern.
For example, in terms of helping the elderly, when you see that there is an elder in need of help, be it the heavy grocery bags, or just walking on the road, help them out. Be the first one to offer help. Once somone sees this kind of action, it kind of sticks and people would start doing the same. Those who were afraid before, would see someone doing what they wanted to do, and be more confident in doing similar helpful actions.
