We have now come to the realization that technology in the classroom is important, but we must integrate technology into our classroom rather than just using it. Here are some resources that I have found that proves this.

There are many things that I actually disagree with this blog post. Traditional libraries are not yet obsolete. This is because it is still important to keep books relevant for our students. Even though we have technology to read to us or give us a digital copy of a book. We still need a safe space to read the content. A traditional library is the perfect place because they enforce silence in the library. Banning phones and tablets should still be a thing at schools. We are unable to monitor or supervise students with their uses of the technology when they use their own. Schools should be providing the technology needed for the class that can be monitored to ensure the students are staying on track. Computer class is still an important feature in our schools. Teachers don't have time in their day to teach the content that they're teaching all while educating the students how to properly utilize the technology. The school that I am working at still has a computer class that educates students how to be digital citizens and how to integrate what they learned into the classroom. We need to keep a computer class, especially for younger students. To prepare them for the real world of college and other jobs that utilize what they're learning in class.

If you want to keep students engaged with technology. You must make it applicable to the real world. If we don't do this they look at using the technology they're using in the classroom more as a quick tool and done. A cool tip that I have is having students solve a real problem by doing research on a topic that can be applied to the real world. An example would be that the students can do a research on how to reduce pollution in their town. They can use Prezi to present their solutions and findings.

There is a feature that allows students to learn at their own pace rather than what the teacher is doing. Finally, they're VR field trips. What teacher doesn't love VR field trips.

The learning pit is something that I have learned from one of my previous classes. It involves a student who is willing to learn or take on a challenge that involves learning. Soon they find themselves not being able to understand it, or are capable of understanding it and climbing out of the pit. Later the student who understands the lesson can help another student out of the learning pit.

When you have 1:1 devices for your students, and those devices happen to be Ipads. Apple Classroom will be your best friend. You're able to monitor what the students are doing, Lock the students from looking in their Ipads, Lock the students on a specific application, and if you're working with elementary students having a tough time finding the application they're suppose to be on. You can open the application they need to be on for them. It is really easy to set up and easy to operate.

Here is a tool that can check everything off your checklist when it comes to finding a new tool to help you plan for your next lesson. I have been using this application since I found it my first year teaching, and feel that I cannot live without it. Plan book helps me plan properly for a week of teaching as well as allows me to attach the resources I will be using when teaching the lesson on that day.

Google has taken over the world in a sense. Now a days if you don't know something, you google it. Even when I was in the military, when someone didn't know something we'd refer to Gunny Google (Gunny is short for the rank Gunnery Sergeant). Now we have learned to collaborate, teach, and learn through google. Without google, would there be as many opportunities to learn today?
