1.) Developmental scientists study people by a number of ways. An example being the use of the scientific method in order to understand, describe, and predict changes throughout an individual's life in order to validate the assumptions being made. The scientists can also conduct controlled experiments such as measuring the growth of plants or assign a biology lab involving chemicals. Moreover, a scientist can also study people through developmental research through cross-sectional and longitudinal studies. An advantage of the scientific method is that it actually allows human growth and development to occur. In addition, the scientific method is easy to control. However, a disadvantage of the scientific method are the complex results. These complex results occur because everyone is unique. The tested individuals can also have a generational difference.
2.) Some ethical problems that can occur is a loss of pride from an individual. The individual can also become depressed or feel belittled from the results, should they ever figure out or be informed. Also, the rights of the individual being tested can be jeopardized.

1.) Theories provide several purposes such as explaining what is different, ultimately causing people to form questions and eventually forming a hypothesis to obtain data.
2.) The theories differ on a variety of issues such as the age gap during particular studies such as the cross-sectional study. In addition, there is absolutely no way to reverse the changes that occurs during human growth and development.
