Today we had a long day due to the early flight we took. We spend the first half of the day at airports and in airplanes. After arriving in Ireland the host family greeted us. While showing us the house, we learned a little about them. They are a really good family and were very welcoming, which gave us a good head start. When we found out which bus to take we went to the City Center. Exploring the city and spending money were the things we did all afternoon. Back at the host family we ate dinner, which was a great ending for this day.

We are looking forward to the next few days in Dublin.

Did you know that the grass in Ireland is actually greener than anywhere else? That's only one of many things we discovered on our first day on "Eire".

The journey started early in the morning with a flight from Graz to Frankfurt. From there, we headed to Dublin, with only a short delay of 20 minutes. With the vague information of "Look for the church" we managed to find the buses in order to get to a meeting point with the guest families. Then our ways seperated.

We were welcomed warmly by our hosts who showed us around the house. First culture shock: You don't take your shoes off! After a cup of black tea, we spent the rest of our afternoon exploring our surroundings and took the double-decker-bus to Malahide Castle. Ireland presented itself in the most strereotypical way: Gloomy skies, green grass, an old stone castle with flying crows and occasional rain. The only things missing were the sheep, but at least we saw horses.

After a safe landing, our host families welcomed us and they showed us our accomodation for the following days.

A surprising thing was, that they drive on the left-hand-side and their steeling wheel is on the right side. Our host family is very friendly and keen. After unpacking our suitcases, we went for a short walk near the ocean. It was a nice ending for the day.

When we finally arrived in Dublin, two buses picked us up at the airport. The bus driver dropped us off at a hotel, but it turned out to be the wrong one, so we took a taxi to the right one.

After that, we explored the city center a bit and visited a few shops. Great first day! (Even though there are some weird people here and traffic lights are irellevant, nobody cares if it‘ s green or red)

Today our trip to Ireland has started. We had a pleasant journey and a great first impression of the area surrounding the home of our host parents.

Our day started early when we all meet at 5 o’clock at Graz airport. The flight to Frankfurt was very enjoyable and the Service was great.

Our second flight from Frankfurt was a bit delayed by departure. But even some turbulences didn’t make it uncomfortable. From the airport we got picked up by bus and driven to a shopping center in the north of Dublin. There we got picked up by our host parents and after a short drive, we arrived at our house in the afternoon. We made a small shopping tour to a shopping mall called Northside located near airport.

Our arriving day gave us a good first impression of the city.

In the city centre, we spent our time walking around, enjoying the lively atmosphere, and even made a stop at KFC for a quick meal. After relaxing and having fun together, we took a train back to our host family’s home, feeling satisfied and excited for what the rest of our trip would bring.

Today, my friend Maxi and I traveled to Dublin with our school. Our journey started early in the morning. First, we flew to Frankfurt, where we had a short stop. Then, we took our second flight to Dublin. The weather was cloudy, but we were excited.

At the airport, our host families picked us up. They were very friendly and welcomed us warmly. Before dinner, we had some time to explore the city. We walked through the streets, saw some beautiful buildings, and even visited a small shop. Dublin has a great atmosphere!

In the evening, we had dinner with our host family and talked a lot. It was a great first day!

Later, we took a walk around the neighborhood, exploring the streets and parks. The fresh Irish air and the friendly atmosphere made a great first impression. One of the highlights was seeing a classic red double-decker bus—something you don’t see every day in Austria! We are looking forward to more adventures in Dublin.

Soon enough - though our flight was a little bit delayed - we arrived at the airport. The landscape was quite enjoyable, very green beautiful meadows. We were introduced to a kind woman, our host. At her place we got a nice lunch consisting of a toast with ham and cheddar and crisps.

Time passed, so we went to discover our area. Later, we decided to catch up with some friends in the center of the city. There we had the pleasure to witness some drunk women fighting, observing the cultural part of Ireland - pubs - from a safe distant. A drunk woman even intimated a dragon, screaming very close to my face. It was quiet and experience, to say at least. Additionally, we also witnessed heaps of vicings drivng a mulit-person-bike while also screaming and honking.

We are thrilled what the following days will have to offer.

Although exhausted after getting up a little earlier than usual, we would still say this day was used at its fullest potential: We pulled out our leap tickets right after the host family heartily welcomed us (A nice way of traveling, staying at host families that would be, judging by our first impressions!), visiting the city center and everything around it for one or two hours. Multiple restaurants were visited and food was enjoyed during that time. We were glad the train brought us there rather fast, the infrastructure is quite impressive!

Speaking of the infrastructure, two other differences compared to Austria caught our vision: Firstly, the fact that cars always drive on the left hand side of the road, which was at first not really noticeable. Secondly, the seemingly infinite rows of houses, which could literally act as a maze! We were sure we were heading down the right road back to our house once, just to find ourselves in a dead end one second later, the house we saw earlier being a completely foreign one with almost the exact same exterior!

As a result of the flights in the morning having been nothing but thrilling, us being not too used to taking off into the air, you could say we had some extra adrenaline stored as well. Therefore we checked out our neighborhood after sunset, were this snapshot was created. A football, wich our hosts provided us with, made for some interesting matches in the light of the street lamps, too.

Our adventure began early this morning as we boarded our first flight from Graz at 6:15 AM, heading to Frankfurt. After a quick stopover, we were supposed to take off at 9:15 AM, but due to a delay, our flight didn’t leave until 9:50. Despite the small setback, we finally touched down in Dublin at around 11:50 AM, excited to start our journey.

Upon arrival, our host families warmly welcomed us, making us feel at home right away. Their friendliness and hospitality were the perfect start to our stay. After settling in, we couldn’t wait to explore the city, so we set off with some of our fellow travelers—Oliver, Jojo, Maxi, and Phillip

Despite the long travel day, we’re already looking forward to the rest of our time here. There’s so much to see and experience, and this is just the beginning of our Dublin adventure!

Our day started early at the airport in Graz where we flew to Frankfurt and further to Dublin. Unfortunately the plane had a delay but after we made it to the airport of Dublin we changed to busses which brought us to our meetingpoint with our host families. After we drove to the host families house to store our suitcases in our room we went by train to the city centre of Dublin. While we were walking through the city centre we met some of our friends. The day ended as we went back to our host family in the evening and had dinner.

Today was finally the day we have dreamt of since the beginning of the school year. Guess they didn't lie when they told us that dreams become true.

Unfortunately, we had to wake up really early to catch our flight to Frankfurt but still we had ,like anticipated, a delayed flight to Dublin. So not only did we travel through a time difference but also stepped right into the beautiful city with typical Dublin weather.

After we all had got our baggage we got welcomed by our host familys. We talked for quite some time. Then we got our rooms we took the chance to explore the city and eat something. Actually, we ate some of the best Smash Burgers we have ever tried.

Not long after, we were already shopping and looking at jewelry to buy. We found a great store with gorgeous jewelry named Lovisa - so of course we didn't miss our chance. On the evening we met up with friends and went to the sea and went for a walk.

So even tough it was really exhausting day it still way beautiful und not regrettable.

Upon arrival in Dublin, we made our way to our host family's home, where we were warmly welcomed and given time to settle in. After unpacking and getting comfortable, we had some free time to explore. Excited to make the most of it, Ivan, Johann, Andrej, Matthias, Maxi T., and I (Jakov) set off for the city centre, ready to experience the Heart of Dublin.

Day 2: Saturday 22nd

We started the day at half past six in the morning. We quickly got ready and took the bus at eight o’clock to the city centre where we met the rest of our group. At 9 o’clock, we took a 1 1/2 hour ride to Kilkenny City& Castle. There we met our guide „Mary Poppins“ who showed us a little bit of the area around the castle and told us some interesting facts und silly tales about Kilkenny City and its history. After a short break in a lovely book store we finally went in the castle. It was a non-guided tour and we cruised individually from room to room. At four o’clock in the afternoon we took the bus back to dublin. After the long ride we decided to eat something in a restaurant. A few of our friends were kind enough to join us for dinner. Finally we took our bus home to our host family and ended the day with an episode of greys anatomy.

Today we visited the beautiful city of Kilkenny. We woke up at 7 a.m., ate breakfast and then headed to the bus station toward Dublin city center. There we met the others and drove to Kilkenny with a bus. At first we had a one hour break to eat lunch while the other group did a guided sideseeing tour through the city. After that we did the same. It was really interesting to learn something about the history of Kilkenny. Following that we had another short break before we visited the castle of Kilkenny. It is a very beautiful old castle surrounded by a huge park. After our visit, we drove back to Dublin and ate some fish and chips which was a nice ending to that fantastic day.

Today was the first day we had a scheduled program, so Leon and I (Maxime) got up at 7:30 and got ready.

We ate some cereal, brushed our teeth, and got dressed, then we headed straight to the bus.

We were a bit late (oops), but fortunately, the bus hadn't arrived yet, so it wasn't a big deal.

Our destination was a small and beautiful city called Kilkenny.

At first, we had some free time to explore the city and get something to eat. So, Leon, Adam, Andras, Andreas, and I went to get some pizza.

Then, we had a 45-minute guided tour where we learned some things about the city, its culture, and its people.

For example, the name Kilkenny comes from the Irish "Cill Chainnigh," meaning "Church of Canice." It refers to a church founded by St. Canice in the 6th century, around which the town developed. Today, this church is known as St. Canice's Cathedral.

Afterward, we had some free time again before we got to see Kilkenny Castle from the inside, which, in my opinion, was a bit boring. But I don't like museums in general, so that's not a big surprise.

On the second day we had the pleasure to start the morning by going to Starbucks. Soon enough, we were seated comfortably in the bus to Kilkenny. Kilkenny is a very lovely city - on paper though - , as it is very small. There a nice guide, who considered himself as Mary Poppins, told us about the history of Kilkenny. We had the honour to hear about a Gaelic football player who killed 150 men and a dog just to impress someone, more tragic deaths, black cats being killed and so on!

After an exciting and quite humorous trip around the city we went to visit the Kilkenny castle from inside. Over the centuries various art styles were combined, creating a breath-taking scene. Every room offered mostly splendid paintings and gorgeous pieces of furniture. Quite enjoyable.

Tired, but happily we are looking forward to the following days.

How's the craic? (That's what our tour guide tought us today, but we'll get to that later.)

After a peaceful first night, we started our day with a very Irish American breakfast containing cheerios with milk out of an enormous container and orange juice from a three-litre bottle. Then, we were ready for the trip.

We met in the city and were driven to Kilkenny - a city, though very small, very rich in history and culture with buildings out of "Kilkenny Marble" dating back to the thirteenhundreds. Following a lunchbreak, our guide showed us the city in quite a humorous way. We even learned some Irish wordings. Like you might have guessed, "How's the craic?" basically means "How are you?".

Later, we also visited Kilkenny Castle, which was cool from the outside, but interior-wise not that impressive when you're used to Austria's castles.

Now that we're back home, the next trip is already being planned.

By the way, for the attentive reader: we saw lots of sheep today.

Today we visited the Kilkenny City&Castle, we met at nine, which was totally fine. We had to take the bus and drive for 2 hours. When we arrived it rained and we had a lunch- and exploretime. We went to different shops, ended up in an Irish one, and bought some cute items. After the City tour  (which took us about45 minutes)we had another break, where we went to a bookstore, which was very cute and antique then we visited the castle and were allowed to go through it, taking pictures and admiring the history stuff from Kilkenny.

After the drive home, we looked around in town and went to starbucks. It was a warm and tasty ending for the day.

Our second day in Ireland started early. After waking up and getting ready for the day, we enjoyed a simple breakfast of muesli before setting off on our adventure. The morning air was crisp as we borded a double-decker bus to Dublin, watching the city slowly come to life through the windows. From there, we continued our journey to Kilkenny, a charming town full of history and character.

Upon arrival, we had the chance to explore the town at our own pace. Wandering through its quaint streets, we discovered many little shops, each offering something unique. One of my friends even decided to get a piercing—a spontaneous and exciting moment for all of us!

For lunch, we stopped at a fast-food place to refuel before continuing with our itinerary. The afternoon was dedicated to a guided city tour, where we learned more about Kilkenny’s rich history and admired its beautiful old buildings. One of the highlights was our visit to Kilkenny Castle, a stunning and well-preserved site that transported us back in time. The atmosphere was peaceful, and it was nice to take a break from the fast-paced exploring.

After a relaxed walk through the castle grounds, it was time to head back. We hopped on the bus, feeling tired but happy after such a great day. As we made our way home, I couldn’t help but reflect on how much we had already experienced in just one day—new places, new memories, and plenty of laughter.

Today, we took a bus to Kilkenny to explore the city and visit the castle. A guide led us through the city and told us fascinating stories about the various buildings, their history, and the people who once lived there. Although the city is quite small, it has a charming atmosphere with its narrow streets.

After the city tour, we also walked through the museum located inside the castle, where we learned more about the Butler family, who once lived there. The Butlers were one of the most prominent noble families in Ireland and played a significant role in the country’s history. Then it was already time to head back to Dublin, where we arrived at around 5:30 PM.

Afterwards, we spent some time exploring the city center, enjoying the lively streets, and had traditional fish & chips for dinner.

Hello there, dear readers!

On our first full day in Ireland, we embarked on a journey into an rather interesting town, which we liked for one reason in particular. You see, Kilkenny is really good at one of the three Gaelic games, which would be hurling. It is played with just a stick, a ball and thirty players. The team of Kilkenmy city is known for being fierce in that sport, therefore it is called the Kilkenny cats. Moreover, cats, especially black ones, also played an important role in the city's history, as they were hunted during the witch hunts. It just turns out, we really like cats. Well, who doesn't? We learned all of that on a tour through the city center. Following that we went to the black cat cafe and had hot chocolate, a nice drink on a rainy and windy day like this one.

After the break, we visited the impressive Kilkenny castle, where we took this picture of the castle gardens. You are also able to see the tower of the Black Abbey on it. Collecting some souvenirs was enjoyable before driving back to dublin was enjoyable, too.

Later, we visited Kilkenny Castle, which was a great experience. After exploring the castle, the bus took us back to Dublin. When we arrived, we had the rest of the day free to relax or explore more of the city.

⛪ Black Abbey – A peaceful and historic church. The colorful stained glass windows were amazing, and we learned about the Dominican monks who lived there.

Kilkenny was a great place to visit, full of history and charm!

Today started with a delicious breakfast from our lovely host family. Well-fed and ready for adventure, we embarked on a long journey to a beautiful city. There, we explored the charming streets and visited several stunning churches, each with its own history and character. The architecture and peaceful atmosphere were truly impressive.

After a fulfilling day, we returned to Dublin, where we had some time to explore the city. Walking through its lively streets, we discovered charming shops, historic buildings, and cozy pubs. It was a perfect end to an exciting day full of new experiences in Ireland!

After the tour, we had 2 hours and 40 minutes of free time to explore the town at our own pace—whether that meant visiting local shops, enjoying a coffee in one of the cozy cafés, or simply taking in the beautiful surroundings.

Later, we visited the magnificent Kilkenny Castle, a highlight of the trip. Walking through its grand halls and picturesque gardens was an unforgettable experience. Once our castle tour was complete, the bus took us back to Dublin. Upon arrival, we had the rest of the day to unwind, reflect on the trip, or continue discovering more of the city on our own.

Today, we took a trip to Kilkenny, and it was a great experience! The bus ride took about 1.5 hours, but the time passed quickly as we enjoyed the view of the Irish countryside.

When we arrived, we explored Kilkenny Castle. It was really interesting to see the old rooms and learn about the history of the place. The castle is huge and looks like something from a fairy tale! After that, we walked around the city, which has beautiful old streets and buildings.

It was a fun day, and I would love to visit Kilkenny again someday!

The Plan for today was visiting Howth. To achieve that we took a train in the morning. First thing planned was a walking trip around the more or less island. Starting off with a half an hour break of taking pictures we were all content. But after that we really started walking, which took a little too long. We had a nice view though. An eternity later we finally reached the highest point, which still had an amazing view, what a surprise! Some of us couldn’t handle so much fresh air and not being on the phone all the time so they took a bus back to town. Us on the other hand, still a bit motivated, went downhill by foot. Back in the town and after a long need toilet break we got dismissed. Breaking apart from most of the group we spend a little time in town before heading back to Dublin by train. Due to lack of sleep and too much fresh air the planned shopping tour ended early. Which led us to the bus journey beck home. After dinner and a much needed shower we went to bed rather early.

This morning, we had more time than yesterday, so we took it slow and enjoyed a relaxed start to the day. After going through our usual morning routine and having breakfast, we headed to the meeting point.

This time we were actually among the first to arrive, which meant we had to wait for the teachers and other students. Some people got stuck in traffic, so we were given 15 minutes of free time before everyone finally showed up and we could start our walk.

Our first stop was at the harbor, where we sat down for a bit to take in the view and rest. Then we started heading uphill, which turned out to be easier than expected because the strong wind was practically pushing us forward.

After a while, we reached a higher viewpoint where we stopped for a break, had something to eat, and took in the incredible view of the sea and cliffs. It was definitely worth the cliimb.

Once we made it to the top, our teachers gave us the choice to either walk back down or take the bus. We chose the bus and returned to the city, where we grabbed some lunch before heading home.

And that pretty much wraps up the day or maybe not, since we might still go out later. Either way, thanks for reading our blog, and we’ll see you again tomorrow

What felt like an eternity later, we finally reached the highest point — and surprise, the view was still amazing! Some of us couldn’t handle so much fresh air and being away from their phones for too long, so they decided to take a bus back to town.

The rest of us, still somewhat motivated, walked downhill on foot. Back in town and after a much-needed toilet break, we were dismissed. We spent some more time in Howth before heading back to Dublin by train. From there, we took a bus home. After dinner and a well-deserved shower, we went to bed rather early.

Felix and I went for a quick run to the sea in the morning, which was the perfect way to start the day. After the hike, we had fish and chips at the harbor and watched the boats. It’s the perfect place to relax and explore. If you ever visit Ireland, you should definitely go to Howth!

Today, we spent the day exploring Howth, a beautiful coastal town just outside Dublin. The highlight of our trip was the stunning cliff walk, offering breathtaking views of the sea and rugged coastline. The fresh ocean breeze and dramatic scenery made it an unforgettable experience.

Unfortunately, we were running a bit late, sorry again for keeping everyone waiting!

After our hike, we headed back into the city to meet up with friends. We had a great time together, sharing stories, enjoying good food, and making the most of our time in Dublin. Now, after a long but wonderful day, we’re winding down at home, relaxing and reminiscing about the adventures of the day.

Howth was worth the visit.

Today, everyone definiteley reached their steps goal.

But before, we finally understood how to use the shower. Then, we took the train to Howth, a small fishing village, where we saw seals in the wild for the first time.

The next two hours were spent with admiring the rough sea and breathing in the salty air while following a narrow path up the cliffs of Howth and trying not to get blown off by the heavy wind. We had our lunch at the top and finished the route on the back of the hill.

In Howth, we parted ways and Johanna - despite her being a vegetarian - tried a plate said to be the village's best fish'n chips (they weren't bad, but didn't taste like much), while Helena ate churros (they were good).

After taking the train to Dublin and strolling through it's busy streets with different groups of people, we met up again and went home.

We didn't see sheep today, but souvenirs with the little creatures on them were bought.

Howth is a charming fishing village near Dublin, famous for its stunning cliff walk. From there, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the ocean and steep cliffs. If you’re lucky, you might even spot seals swimming below. The fresh air and the moderate trail make it a perfect outdoor experience.

In the morning, Maxi and I went for a quick run to start the day. Later, we explored the beautiful landscape and enjoyed a relaxing hike. To top it off, we had delicious fish and chips at the harbor while watching the boats. Howth is definitely a must-visit spot in Ireland!

Today we visited Howth, eventhough the wind blew very strongly, we had a nice walk with an amazong view. At the beginning, we saw some seales. After them, we started our tour which took us about 2 hours. We took lots of pictures of nature. On the top, we had a short lunchbreak, where we could watch the calming ocean. As we finished our walk, we visited „Howth Markt“, where we got Churros. Then we drove back to the city, did some shopping and looked around there. Back home, we got some good food and talked with our host family. They also mentioned that two Italian girls will join us tomorrow. We are excited to see them.

Then we had to sprint to catch our train to Howth, but we made it just in time. Once there, we explored a small market with amazing cookies, handmade jewelry, and lots of delicious food. After that, we headed down to the sea, climbed onto the rocks, and took some photos before starting our big hike up the Howth Cliffs.

The hike was tough—mostly steep uphill—but the views were absolutely worth it. Halfway up, we took a quick lunch break, enjoyed the scenery, and then continued to the top. It was exhausting but felt like such an accomplishment.

After taking the bus back to Howth, we had some free time but decided to spend it in Dublin, where we did some shopping and just wandered around the city. Eventually, we took the train home, had a delicious dinner (spaghetti with meatballs!), and spent the evening relaxing with our host family.

After the hike, we returned to Dublin with our friends. We spent the afternoon shopping, exploring the city, and enjoying some delicious food. In the evening, we headed back to our host families, where we had dinner together and shared stories from the day. It was an amazing experience filled with adventure, laughter, and great memories!

Today we visited the beautiful cliffs of Howth. It was a very interesting walk to the summit of this little penisula. We walked for around 3 hours, atleast it seemed like it. After that we took the bus back to the mainstation of Howth. Harun and me then went with Christof, Bruno, Jovana, Anna, Nahid and Sophie to Dublin where we went exploring the shopping streets. Later they all went back home, whereas we explored the pier, extremely stunning btw, then met up with Timon again and went home. Overall it was a 8/10 trip.

After our hike, we treated ourselves to a delicious meal at a local restaurant, where we had the chance to try some fresh seafood and traditional Irish dishes. Feeling satisfied, we then took some time to stroll through the town, exploring its cozy streets and enjoying the relaxed atmosphere.

Later in the day, we returned to our host family, where we shared another meal and reflected on our wonderful experiences. To end the evening on a fun note, we met up with friends and spent some time at a bowling alley, laughing and enjoying each other’s company. It was the perfect way to end such a fantastic day!

Felix and I went for a quick run to the sea in the morning, which was the perfect way to start the day. After the hike, we had fish and chips at the harbor and watched the boats. It’s the perfect place to relax and explore. If you ever visit Ireland, you should definitely go to Howth!

We took great delight in watching seals being seals. I found them very, very cute (Katja). We should definitely get some in Graz in order to attract more tourism. After taking plenty of pictures of the sea, we started to climb the cliff. The view we had from the top was quite exquisite.

After buying some presents, we were literally magnetised to a specific bookstore next to pret a manger - probably our favourite place to get food at Dublin. We had a nice time. I invested in three promising-looking books (Katja). But it was a good investment.

Today we had a meeting point at a nice place called “Howth“.  We all met up at 11:15 and gathered together to see if everyone had arrived. We had a short break do we could explore Howth a little and get to know our surroundings. After our break we went to our first stop at the beach where most of us took pictures of the sea and the island in general. We continued by going up the hills and taking short stops for picture time. A while into the hike we had a break again where we had lunch with an amazing view above the sea. Afterwards we still had a bit to go and when we arrived back down we had our leasure time. And that was it for today!

We started our adventure at the docks, where elegant sailboats swayed gently in the water. After soaking in the peaceful seaside atmosphere, we made our way up a steep road leading to the cliffs. The effort was worth it—the view from the top was absolutely breathtaking. The dramatic cliffs, endless ocean, and crisp sea breeze made for an unforgettable sight.

After hiking for about an hour and a half, we returned to the docks, where hunger had caught up with us. We decided to have dinner by the water, and I shared a delicious crêpe with a friend— the perfect way to wrap up the day.

Overall, it was a wonderful day, and we’re excited to see what tomorrow has in store for us.

Our day began bright and early in the morning at 7 o’clock. Against everyone’s expectations we were greeted with the sun and a blue sky. Finally good weather in dublin. We met the rest of our class at the Molly Malone statue and with our guide Patrick we started a city walking tour. We learned a  bit more about the history about dublin. After a part of our group including Frau Prof. Fuchsgruber got lost for a short period of time the tour ended in the middle of a street. A hard deserved four hour break later we had our first lesson of afternoon school. We learned a bit about „Irish-Slang“ and their heritage. At 5 o’clock in the afternoon our friends and ourselves went to a cute pizza place called „Sano“. After the dinner we took the bus home and Emma suddenly became an adrenalin-kick and decided to go jogging with Elena and Sandra at the seaside.

All in all it was another really great day in dublin.

From the moment we saw the blue sky in the morning, we knew it was going to be a good day.

In the morning, we took the bus to the city and unfortunately got stuck in traffic, but we made it to the statue of Molly Malone before our walking tour started. The following 100 minutes, two guides showed us the city (we had seperated into two groups before) and we learnt lots of interesting facts about the city.

After a long break, we had our first language class. We did several different exercises ranging from language in use to interactive games.

Afterwards, we rewarded ourselves with a bubble waffle.

We had a walking tour trough dublin. We saw lots of sights, for example the St. Patricks Cathedral, the old city plan and a beautiful garden in front of the Dublin Castle.

After the tour ended we had a 3 hour break between the tour and the language school, we visited the shopping street, where we saw lots of beautiful shops. We also got a bubble waffel which was very tasty. Later we attended school for about 3 hours. We got work sheets and played some games.

To clear our minds, we decided to take a walk along the river, where we saw a swan. Back home, we met the new girls, who are very nice:)

In the afternoon, we met in front of our school. In class, we played some games and learned some new Irish words, like Jacks, which means toilet. After school, we drove home for dinner.

Today, we met at 8:45 AM at the Molly Malone statue in the city center of Dublin. For that, we had to wake up at 6:30 in the morning and leave the house at 8 to take the bus there. From there, we were accompanied by a tour guide on a city tour and saw many beautiful places. After the city tour, we had a lunch break and ate delicious burgers. Then we had our first language school session, where we spent three hours talking about various countries, stereotypes about those countries, and the people who live there. All in all, it was a somewhat less eventful day than the last two, but still very fun.

Afterward, we enjoyed some leisure time, which we spent exploring the city, browsing shops, and grabbing a bite to eat. In the afternoon, we attended our classes, further honing our language skills in an engaging and interactive setting.

Later, we had another stretch of free time and decided to go our separate ways. I spent the evening playing pool with León and Maxime, while Harun and Sebastian ventured to the harbor with some other friends to take in the serene waterfront views. It was a well-balanced day filled with exploration, learning, and relaxation.

Our day started bright and early at 7 o’clock in the morning. Against all expectations, we were greeted by sunshine and a blue sky – finally, good weather in Dublin! We met the rest of our class at the Molly Malone statue, where our guide Ben took us on a city walking tour. Along the way, we learned fascinating details about Dublin’s history.

After a well-deserved four-hour break, we had our first afternoon lesson at Babel Language School. There, we learned about Irish slang and its meaning. The lessons were fun and helped us understand more about the local culture. The teachers were very friendly, and their interactive way of teaching made learning enjoyable and interesting.

It was a great day!

Today, we woke up at 6:30 a.m. and headed to the bus station to go to the city center. The ride took almost an hour and was quite exhausting. Once we arrived at the meeting point, we met the other students and waited for the guided tour to begin. The tour was really interesting, and we got to visit beautiful places like Saint Patrick’s Cathedral. The guide was very friendly and knew exactly what he was talking about.

After the tour, we had some free time, during which we ate a burger. In the afternoon, we had school, which was a bit boring at first but ended up being quite funny. When we got home in the evening, we had spaghetti for dinner and later went outside to play.

This morning, we started our day with a city tour, discovering the rich history of Ireland. We learned a lot about the country’s past, its famous landmarks, and important historical events. After the tour, we took a walk through the city, enjoying the lovely atmosphere.

Later, we went to the language academy, where we worked on worksheets and played fun games to improve our English skills. It was a great way to learn while having fun. The weather was also perfect today—sunny and warm, making our day even better! It was an exciting and educational experience.

After a nice guided trip about Irish history we had some free time. We had a great time with Dorka, Julia, Adam, Andras and Leander at McDonalds.

After the cheeseburgers we had afternoon school at bable academy. Funny games were played, as well we learnt about Irish culture.

For dinner we went out with Adam and Andras for the next cheeseburgers (they tasted very fine). Andras ordered a legendary milkshake which he cherished to the bitter end. We laughed too much, sang the Schloss Einstein and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Theme Song at the train station - another silly jokes were made.

All in one, it was a quite entertaining day.

I think everyone was surprised by the weather today - the sun was shining and it was the most beautiful day until now. We met at the Molly Malone Statue and were seperated in different groups. After that, a tourist guide welcomed us and he showed us some things in the city. We went to the St. Patricks Cathedral, to the Trinity College and much more. He told us about the best book stores in Dublin and after about 90 minutes the tour was over. We learned a lot about the Irish history. After that, we had some free time and we went shopping and ate some lunch. At 13:30 we met at our School, which was actually not looking like a school at all. Then we had from 13:50 to 17:00 school and did some exercises about Ireland and played some games. After that, we had free time but most of us went home due to the time. Today was probably the most calm day because we mostly had school and the weather was absolutely gorgeous.

Dear readers, we learned by far the most about Ireland and the city we currently live in today. The reason for that would be us having had a guided tour through the city center, which was pleasently filled with  information, yet visually even more of an event for us. Especially the Dubh Linn Garden was utterly stunning and is definitely worth seeing, even more so on a sunny day, and we were lucky, the sun did shine today! We took our picture of the day there. Additionally, you could take a look at the medieval city walls there, and visit the locations where the settlements of the Vikings once stood.
Further enlargening our input for the day, first lessons at the Babel academy of english were taken part in. We talked a little there and also read about what was mostly new to us, but to some degree we had already heard of the topics, so they were indeed partly boring. However, we hope the following days will still be as interesting as the one which has now passed, until tomorrow!

After the tour, we had some free time to explore. We wandered through the city, browsed a few shops, and grabbed something to eat. It was nice to just take in the atmosphere.

In the afternoon, we attended a school session. We worked in groups, reading about an orphan boy and discussing adoption. It wasn’t the most exciting task, but we got through it.

By the evening, we were all pretty tired. Back at our host families, we had dinner, chatted, and played football and board games with the kids. It was a relaxed but enjoyable day—I’m looking forward to what’s next!

The morning started with a bus ride into the city, where we reunited with the rest of the group at the Molly Malone Statue. From there, we split into two smaller groups for a guided tour of Dublin. I have to admit, our guide—whose name escapes me—didn’t seem entirely professional. At one point, he even managed to lose half of his tourists.

By 11 o’clock, we took a well-earned lunch break at the nearest McDonald’s, followed by some shopping. In the afternoon, we attended Babel school from 1:30 to 5:00 PM, where we explored Irish culture and picked up some new vocabulary.

After grabbing a few souvenirs, it was finally time to head home—where dinner had been patiently waiting for us.

You know the drill after our usual morning routine, we headed to the bus stop. On the way, we ran into some classmates, which made the ride to the meeting point much more enjoyable.

The day started with a 90 minute guided city walk, during which our tour guide made several stops to tell us about the history of different locations. One interesting thing he mentioned was the origin of the Irish people, explaining that many of them can trace their ancestry back to Hallstatt, Austria.

After the tour, we had some free time before our language class at Babel Language School. Our teacher, Filipe, was really cool he’s from Brazil and made the lesson engaging. We did a bit of writing, but we spent most of the time discussing different topics, which made the class a lot more interesting.

At 5 PM, our lesson ended, and we headed to a restaurant for dinner. Later, we decided to play a few rounds of snooker with Timon, Jakob, and Konstantin, which was a great way to end the day.

After a break, we went to the English Academy of Babel at 1:30 PM for our lessons. The classes were interesting and helped us improve our English skills in a focused and supportive environment.

Starting off the day with sport is always a great idea. That’s why we met our class in town to drive out of city for a private sport class. There we learned how to play three of the most known gaelic sports, such as hurling. After a lot of failed tries to repeat the moves of professionals we went back to the town for our classes. Before the lessons we had about 15 min to get some food. Right at the start we knew our teacher is really nice. He taught us some Irish slang and we even wrote a little dialogue with the word we learned. After some fun games and us getting dismissed we went out to eat with some friends. It was a real special day due to the birthday of one friend. We celebrated him well and headed back home.

Hello everyone!

Going for a rather early post today, we want to point out this beautiful looking bar called "The Quays Bar". Sadly we didn't take a look at its interior, we can just suggest that it would be equally nice-looking. However, it is located right at the Temple bar square. Let me tell you why that is a problem: Apparently, if what our teacher said is correct, the whole area around the Temple Bar has become a tourist trap, prices being up to twice as high as five blocks further down. Better not spend your money there!
Apart from that, we got to hear and understand some lovely Dublin slang, as it is spoken by many of the host families at the English school. In addition to that, we learned about politics and debating there.

But before our lessons, we travelled by bus to the Na Fianna club's facilities in order to play some Gaelic sports. The one which we liked most was Gaelic football, probably due to it having similarities to normal football, which we regularly play at home. It still was quite different though, you could just catch the ball and carry it in your hands! Hurling and Gaelic Handball were tried, too. These were a bit harder, for none of us have ever played them before.

All in all it was an experience worth our time.

The second game we tried out is called Gaelic handball. It is like squash, just without a bat, but instead, we use our hands. It was not as confusing but still difficult because the ball is very small.

The last sport we tried was hurling, and it was really hard. You play with a long stick and a small ball. We did a few exercises, and in the end, I still couldn't hit the ball with the stick.

All in all, it was a great experience and a lot of fun. Right after, we had school, where we played some games, and we ended the day with a delicious

In the afternoon we had school again until 5 o‘clock. We did some talking, work sheets and played games. Then we walked around town and went in some (vintage) shops. Ireland has a lot of them:).

On our way home we met the girls who joined us yesterday and watched the sunset together, while talking about our day.

Today, we woke up at 6:30 AM again to make sure we weren’t running late. After our usual morning routine, we headed to the bus stop.

Once we arrived at the meeting point, we had to wait for everyone to gather before taking another bus to a place where we got to experience traditional Gaelic games.

We tried out three different sports:

The first was handball, which is quite similar to squash, except instead of using a racket, you hit the ball with your hands.

The second—and probably the most unique—was hurling, a sport that combines elements of baseball, hockey, and lacrosse. It might sound like an odd mix, but once we got the hang of it, it was actually really fun to play.

The last game we tried was Gaelic football, which, despite the name, is very different from regular football (soccer). In this version, you use your hands more than your feet, making it feel like a mix of basketball, handball, and football.

After the games, we had our language school until 5 PM. Today, we had a different teacher Paul who did a great job keeping the lesson interesting.

To wrap up the day, we grabbed something to eat before heading home.

16th birthday today!

We met at Temple Bar Square at 8:45 with our teachers and the same tour guide that showed us the Trinity College and much more yesterday. Then, we took the bus and went to the Gaelic Games experience. At the beginning, a woman welcomed us and explained us the rules and the history of the three traditional sports of Ireland: Hurling, Gaelic Football and Gaelic Handball. We were seperated in groups and a coach taught us all three sports. We started with Hurling, then moved to Gaelic Football and at the end, Gaelic Handball. After we tried all of them, our group played a match at every end. After that, we went to school at 13:30 and a new teacher named David welcomed us. We learned about Irish phrases (we already know about Craic and Gobshite but we learned some more) and played some fun games. After that, we gave our friend Andi who had his 16th birthday today, his presents. Sadly, all of us had to go back home due to dinner time, so we‘re going to do something fun for his birthday tomorrow. It was very exciting to try the Gaelic Games and it was a very calm day today!

In the afternoon we had our english classes. Where we had a wonderful time. After that we met up with friends and went out eating.

Today we went to try out the exciting Gaelic games, icluding hurling and Gaelic football. A very nice Lady explained the rules to us and she told us about the history of these games. She also told us that the professional Gearlic games player play for the pride of the History and not for money. That was really shockig for us to hear. Later we got to try out the sports, they were harder than expected but our favourite one was by far Gaelic football. When we were done playing the games, we went to our school by bus. We did a quick stop, with our friends, at a donut shop our host family recommanded. In school we were all a little bit shattered because of the sport we have done before, but the funny lessons got us out of this feeling. When school was over we took, like everyday, the train home. After almost missing our station we got home safe where our host family was waiting with delicious dinner for us. ;)

At lunchtime we had a ten minute break before we had to go to the Babel Academy classes. We made a mind map of typical Irish things, did some grammar exercises and played some games.

Our day ended with hanging out with some friends, having some snacks and celebrating Johannes' birthday :)

After that, we went to the language school, where we learned many new English phrases and talked about the political system in Ireland. It was very informative.

Afterwards, we had the rest of the evening free. Since it was Johannes’ birthday, we celebrated with our friends and had a great time together.

Overall, it was truly a wonderful day!

Today we headed out extra early in order to arrive at the meeting point in time, so we got to enjoy the morning hustle at Temple Bar Square for half an hour.

After everyone had arrived, we took buses to a sports club where we would get the chance to experience a part of Ireland's culture: Gaelic Games. There are three different games. Gaelic Football, where you can kick the ball in a certain way, pass it like you would do a service in volleyball and also run with it - but only for "four-ish" steps -, Gaelic Handball, which is like sqash but without a racket, and Hurling, a stick and ball game which is over 3000 years old.

After being shown an epic video, we all expected to leave with a broken nose, but actually, it was quite fun and no one got hurt. Most of us were slightly overwhelmed by the complexity and the technical aspects, so the matches were rather chaotic. However, it was a great opportunity to get to know this impressive tradition.

In the afternoon, we learnt some Irish slang and other things

in class. To end the day, we paid a visit to H&M and took an accidental detour because the bus didn't exactly take the shortest way home. Let's call it sightseeing.

There we were introduced to the Gaelic games. The Gaelic games are their passion, their everything. It is their sport. The players play only for honour, not for money. They don't have names on their jerseys because they play as a team - not as individuals. Whether it be Gaelic football or hurling, we were quite impressed when we watched them play on an epic video- jaws dropped.

After the great introduction we (tried to) play Gaelic games as well. Gaelic games, hurling and handball - it was quite difficult but fun.

In the afternoon we had school and then dinner at an Asian restaurant. The jokes from our group of friends got sillier, but nothing new.

Later, we got the chance to learn about Irish sports, which was really interesting. After that, we attended our language school, where we learned a lot. When school was over, I got a surprise gift:my favorite sweets, Maltesers, along with some other treats. That made me really happy!

Back at home, we had delicious wraps with chicken and avocado for dinner. But the best part was the dessert:my host family had made a special birthday cake for me, a kind of Swiss roll. It was such a kind gesture, and I felt truly celebrated!

After the adrenaline rush of sports, we headed to our language school, where we worked on improving our English. To reward ourselves after a productive day, we indulged in delicious pancakes and crêpes—definitely a treat worth savoring! Then it was time to drive back into the city because our english lessons started. During class we learned a lot about politics and that it really matters  how you present yourself.

After school we did some shopping with our friends in the city and enjoyed the beautiful sun that came out during our english class. We drove back home at 7 p.m. and spend time at our host family.

Overall it was a great day.

In the afternoon, we attended our classes, where we expanded our knowledge of the Irish language by learning new words and expressions. We also played a few interactive games, making the session both educational and enjoyable.

Later, some of us gathered to celebrate Johannes’ birthday, while others took the evening to relax. It was a well-balanced day of sports, learning, and socializing.

During the class, we got to try out three popular Gaelic sports, including hurling. While we weren’t exactly pros, we had a lot of fun attempting to copy the techniques of the experts. After plenty of laughs and missed attempts, we returned to town for our lessons.

Before class started, we had about 15 minutes to grab a quick snack. Our teacher turned out to be really fun — he introduced us to some Irish slang, and we even created a short dialogue using the new words. The lesson was filled with games and laughter, making the whole experience even better.

Once school was done, we met up with some friends and went out for dinner at a cozy Italian restaurant. The evening was relaxed and enjoyable — the perfect way to wrap up such a memorable day.

The sun was shining bright and early in our faces when we took the bus into the city center at 7:50 o‘clock. Our classes today started at 9 o‘clock where we learned some history about William Shakespeare. After our break we played a little Murder Mystery game which was fun. When school was over Emma, Sandra, Elena and myself went to the beach und ate a lovely salad as our lunch. We took the train back to Temple bar square and met the rest of our class there. At 16 o‘clock we went in a Pup singalong where we sang songs which originated in irish culture. The first few songs were a bit boring but the singer was very nice and as the hour went on it became more and more entertaining especially the last song which we sang in irish not in english. We went home straight after the pub and on our way there we stopped at a little Shopping Center right around the corner from our house. After that we ate and went to bed early.

During our lunch break, we went shopping – maybe a little too much! We definitely spent more money than we should have, but it was worth it. We also grabbed something to eat at McDonald’s.

In the evening we played pool with our friends, and we’re having a great time. Overall, today was really fun, and I’m looking forward to tomorrow!

Our day started with around 4 hours of school. We created our own superhero and practiced a murder mistery. Between school and the afternoon activity, we went to Starbucks and ordered some drinks. Beacause there was a lot of time left, we decided to do some shopping again before we went to the meeting point.

At 4 p.m the Pub Singalong started and we dove into the Irish culture. Altough we couldn‘t sing very well it was a nice experience.

As our title says one thing we‘ve learned is that Irish people clap if there are numbers in the song text.

We decided to have a chill evening so we grapped ourselves a tea from a coffee shop and went home.

What you are able to see here is a snapshot of the Ha'penny bridge, which stretches over the River Liffey, the largest river in Dublin. It received its name through a fine you once had to pay in order to cross it. You might have guessed it, or not, the payment you had to make was half a penny.

We took the foto right out of the window of the Ha'penny Bridge Inn, where we listened and sang along to some Irish folk songs and traditional music, which is played with the banjo. Really nice 'twas! Two example pieces would be "Oró, Sé Do Bheatha 'Bhaile", yeah it is written in irish and was hard to pronounce, we only sang the Chorus though, and "I'll Tell Me Ma". You should look them up! However, we were only there for a mere hour.
In contrast to that, we were at the English school for 3 hours again this morning. Of course our lessons there improved our English skills, if just a little bit. We had do walk there rather fast due to our train having had a slight malfunction.

At 8:45 we met at Temple Bar Square and had school from 9:00 to 12:15. We played games today such as city-country-river but a version where all words had to have the same number of letters. We also created our own super hero. After our class ended, we had about 3 hours free time. We went to grab some lunch and just went shopping. Then, at 15:45, we met at Temple Bar Square again and went to a pub at the Square. We went into the bar and we sung some traditional Irish songs. After one hour the experience ended and we had free time. Again, we went shopping and I went to a wax museum as well - which was kind of weird, but pretty cool. The day ended with some pizza and a beautiful walk.

Time flew by the last few days and it's Wednesday! We already started packing our suitcases, which feels a bit strange.

Still, we had another eventful day in Dublin. Once again, we left the house early in the morning and started the day with exercises in class.

In our lunch break, we took a walk through the city and got milkshakes at McDonald's. The St-Patrick's-Day-Shamrock-Shake didn't really taste like shamrock, but was still good.

As we still had about two hours left, we thought it would be a good idea to take the bus to Sandymount Beach. After one hour of mental breakdown because of public transport we knew better.

Eventually, we made it to the planned pub singalong at the Ha'Penny Bridge Inn in time. Two musicians showed us the musical side of Ireland, which was, in Irish slang, grand. Sadly, we didn't get to taste the expected Guiness beer (alcohol free, of course).

At 4 p.m., we joined a traditional Pub Singalong and got a taste of Irish culture. While our singing might not have been the best, the lively atmosphere made it a fantastic experience. One fun fact we discovered—Irish people love to clap when a song includes numbers in the lyrics!

To wind down after an eventful day, we grabbed some tea from a cozy coffee shop and made our way home, ending the night on a relaxed note.

Today, our day started, as in the past few days, at 8:45 AM at Temple Park Square. From 9 AM to 12:15 PM, we attended language school, where we played some games. After that, we had several hours of free time, during which we went for fish and chips and did some shopping. Later, we visited a pub where traditional Irish folk songs were performed for us. After dinner, we went to play billiards with some friends. Today was for me the most boring day so far, but not every day can be very exciting.

Our day in Ireland started early, catching the train to school. Classes went by with some learning and a few fun games. After school, we had an unexpected but amusing conversation with German-speaking students outside the building. A long break left us wondering what to do, but we ended up hanging out at a bench. After the break that felt like 10 hours we finally went to the Pub sing–along.Despite our best efforts, the singer at the front weren't exactly impressed with our singing. Feeling slightly defeated, we headed home earlier than usual. Luckily, our host father lifted our spirits with homemade burgers :)! Now its time to slowly pack our suitcases, we will miss our hostfamily

Today we started the day early in the morning - you might know it - Pret a manger. We also tried Butler's Chocolate Café, which has great chocolates and you get a free praline!

After school we got a lot of free time, so we went separate ways to do the things we wanted to do. I (Alina) went with some friends to the National Gallery of Ireland. There were a lot of fascinating paintings of landscapes, people, still life, modern art. Next to the art museum there is a beautiful park where we went for a walk. I enjoyed it very much! I (Katja) went shopping with a friend. It was very nice, I got a cute hotdog plushie.

In the afternoon we sang Irish songs with school in a typical Irish pub. Even though the guitarist said that the Germans were better than us, it was fun.

During our lunch break, we went on a cool shopping trip but didn’t buy anything – just looked around. After that, we grabbed something to eat at McDonald’s.

In the evening, we all went to McDonald’s again to end the day together. The atmosphere was great, and we had a wonderful time. Overall, today was really fun, and I’m looking forward to tomorrow!

At 15:45 a.m. we met again with out classmates and the teachers because we went into a pub to do a pub sing-along. There two musicians waited for us to make some musik together. One of them played the banjo and the other one sang and played the guitar. At first no one  really sang but by the time more and more people started to sing-along. In the end it sounded really nice but i think that we could have done  better.

In the evening we did some last shoppings in the city center and spent time with our friends. Then we drove home to our host families and started packing our suitcases for our flight black to austria.

After school, we had free time until 4 PM. We just walked around a bit and didn’t do much. Then we went to a pub for a sing-along. There were two Irish people singing, and we had to join them. I didn’t like it that much, but it was okay.

After the sing-along, we went straight home. We were a bit tired and didn’t feel like doing anything else. It was an average day. Tomorrow, we have school again, and we will see what we do after that

Today, we woke up at 6:30 AM again and went through our usual morning routine.

At 8:00 AM, we headed to the bus station to make sure we were on time for language school.

Once there, we started the lesson by revisiting some topics we had discussed the day before. After that, we moved on to some games.

The first was a role-playing game where four students acted as suspects, while the rest of us split into detective teams had to figure out which one was the murderer. The second game was Taboo, where we split into groups of five. Each person had a word written on a piece of paper stuck to their forehead, and they had to guess what it was based on clues from their teammates.

After class, we had some free time, so we grabbed something to eat and took a bus around the city to explore a bit.

At 3:45 PM, we went to a pub sing-along basically, a pub where two performers played music while the audience sang along.

To finish off the day, we played some pool with a few classmates before heading home.

Later, I took the train to Sydney Parade and spent some time at the beach, which was really beautiful. I enjoyed my lunch there and took a short break. After about an hour and a half, I headed back by train to Temple Bar Square to meet my teachers and the rest of my class.

Once everyone had arrived, we went to a pub where we sang traditional Irish songs. After that, I returned home for dinner, and now I’ll probably meet up again to play pool.

There, we did some exercises and played a few games. After that, we had some free time, so we went to get something to eat something and did a bit of shopping.

After that, we went to play pool with some friends. That was fun and kind of saved the day. Then we went home, had dinner, and went to bed.

We knew that sooner or later our trip to Ireland would end. And so, the last day here came sooner than expected. The day started off at school where, at least in our class, we had to make out 5 questions with which we then interviewed a handful of people in the streets of Dublin. Most of the people were rather polite and friendly whilst some just shooed us away with the f-word. After returning to class and exchanging our results with others we played some games and said our final goodbyes to our teacher David. The break, we mostly spend in a cafe and at Trinity College until we had to meet at the Jeanie Johnson museum. The tour, I must admit, wasn’t that boring since we actively got to see the (fake) ship from inside. Soon we were dismissed and made our way home with the bus to pack our suitcases and get ready for a very early departure home.

Our last day in Ireland started at the usual time and place.
At nine o’clock, we met at the language school. Today, a street survey was on the agenda. We discovered a few things—first, that public transport is free for seniors in Ireland, and second, that we had been using the wrong app for public transport the entire time.

In the afternoon, we visited the ship Jeanie Johnston. The ship was very small for the amound of people it carried but still very interesting. Special praise goes to the guide, who did an outstanding job.

And just like that, our last day in Ireland came to an end. Overall, we gained many new impressions and thoroughly enjoyed our stay, but now we are also looking forward to going home.

We then made our way to the Jeanie Johnston, a museum ship about the Great Famine in Ireland. A woman told us lots of interesting facts about the ship and this time.

Later, we went out with friends to eat in a burger restaurant and to a few shops, which was a great end to our epic trip to Ireland. :)

We started the day as usual with a visit to Pret a Manger, where I (Alina) got the best iced coffee. Then we went to the school where we had to interview people on the street. The interviews were quite nice and it was great to talk to people even though they were complete strangers to us.

Time passed and we had to say goodbye to our teachers at Bable Academy who had treated us so kindly over the last few days.

Later we set foot on the ship Jeanie Johnston, also known as the Mystery of the Famine. The ship is so named because it carried 2500 people fleeing the famine across the Atlantic - and no one even died. This is one of many reasons why the Jeanie Johnston was so popular - and is still famous today.

All in all, we had a great day.

A good head-start for the day was the long bus drive to the city center. First things first was school, which was really fun today. We had to ask some questions to Irish people. Through that task we met so many people and even found some Austrians. Then we played some more games in class and ended the class with saying goodbye to our lovely teacher. Right ahead we went to a museum. With a talk active tour guide we saw a replica of a ship which drowned. It was a special ship because no one ever died on it. Afterwards we went to bobo’s. That’s an amazing burger place, which was confirmed by Kilian, Johannes, Sandy, Elena, Phelea and myself. Heading to some vintage stores was next on the plan. It was awesome there even though we found nothing. Afterwards we were all so exhausted that we took the next bus home.

We have had our last lessons today, for it is our last day. Actually, it was our last day and a long night awaits us. Still, we made further interesting experiences. For example, we conducted a street survey on the Grafton Street, a famous shopping lane, which is right besides the Stephen's Green Shopping Centre, which still makes, if built a while back, for an exceptionally beautiful shopping experience. You can see it on this picture we took.
In the afternoon we learned about some irsh history, in particular the famine caused by the blight. Many died of starvation back then, yet some were able to flee: A ship, or actually its replica, which was used to transport emigrants to America back then, now rests in the Liffey. It is called Jeanie Johnston. We walked there and it gave is a nice insight into how the life on such a 19th century vessel must have been.
I hope you will visit Dublin once, unlike us you may also be able to have a drink or two!

In the evening, we returned home to pack our bags. Looking back, this week in Ireland was an amazing experience. We loved the culture, the people, and the atmosphere. We would love to visit Ireland again in the future!

We started at the usual time - 8:45 at Temple Bar Square. We had school from 9:00 to 12:15. What I really liked today, was that we had to interview Irish people on the streets. We had five questions about Dublin and about knowledge of Austria. We played games today as well, which was the perfect end to the last school day - we definitely won‘t forget David! Even though he said to me that- oh sorry he told me i‘m not allowed to write that in here (He knows what I mean). The day ended and we had some free time. My parents, my friends and I went eating lunch at the same place we already visited two times and went a bit shopping. At 14:45 we met at the Jeanie Johnston. We visited the ship and the small museum inside and just explored it a little bit. It didn‘t take too long so shortly after that, we had free time again. We went into shops for the last time and I went to buy some flowers with my friends for their Host Parents. It was very lovely (the Irish really like to say that word) here in Dublin and the Craic was definitely up to 90! Craic - That‘s one word i‘ll absolutely add to my vocabulary and that I will not forget! (I probably shouldn‘t use that anywhere else than in Ireland just because it could get confused with something else) Thank you for everything Ireland - i‘ll definitely come to visit you again!

Today, we woke up at 6:30 AM and went through our usual morning routine.

After that, we headed to the bus stop and arrived at our language school at 8:40 AM.

Since it was our last day with our teacher, he had planned something special for us. We split into pairs and went out to conduct street interviews. It was a really fun experience. We got to talk to a lot of people and ask them all sorts of questions.

During our second lesson, our teacher gave us an incredibly inspiring talk, probably one of the best speeches I had ever heard. I can’t phrase it quite like he did, but he spoke about his youth and how we could make the most of ours.

After class, we had no free time at all and had to head straight to the Jeanie Johnston, a 19th-century famine ship. Interestingly, it’s the only famine ship where no passengers died during the voyage. The tour was fascinating, we learned a lot about the Irish Potato Famine and, of course, the remarkable history of the Jeanie Johnston itself.

We started again with school, where we prepared questions for street interviews. The majority answered them politely. There was only one rude woman but the rest seemed to be happy to have someone to talk. Back in the classroom we wrote a report and compared our outcomes.

In the afternoon we drove straight to the Jeanie Johnson Museum Ship and had a guided tour. The guide did a very good job so we never got bored and it was very interesting learning about irish history again.

After finishing the tour we went to grab a bowl. With filled stomachs we wanted to drive home but our train was delayed for 45 minutes so we went to a coffee shop and drank coffee. Finally the train arrived but when we got out we noticed that it had started to rain heavily. Our clothes got totally wet so now we have to wait until they are dry.

The day has come: This is our last blog entry.

The day started with morning classes which varied in exercises, such as solving a murder mystery, conducting a street survey and explaining Irish traditions.

In the lunch break, we went to Trinity College and, wandering around the campus, accidentally ended up in the dining room. Then, we enjoyed a hot chocolate at a café near a kind of museum, where we went next.

The museum is inside the replica of the famine ship Jeanie Johnston, which is also called "Miracle Ship" because not a single out of the in total 2500 people that were transported to America in 16 crossings died. Fascinating!

After some last souvenir hunting, we went home and finished packing. Now, we will try to get some sleep before we start our journey home. We learned a lot during our stay and made many great memories!

we spent our last day in Dublin just walking, enjoying the city one last time. The usual hustle, street musicians playing, conversations blending into the background. Grabbed some solid food, nothing fancy, just some Pizza. We also had a nice time doing the street survey and asking people about their life motto. We got some deep answers, some funny ones, and a few that just made no sense at all. But that’s the charm of it, everyone with their own take on life.

After that, one last slow walk through the city, just enjoying the moment before heading off.

It was great last day!

In the evening, we had dinner with our host family, then packed our bags. At 1 a.m., our journey home would begin—the end of an amazing trip.

Back in class, we shared our findings, played some games, and said our heartfelt goodbyes to our teacher, David. During our break, we soaked in the atmosphere at a cozy café before heading to Trinity College. Later, we visited the Jeanie Johnston Museum, where we explored a replica famine ship—an experience that turned out to be far more interesting than expected.

As the day came to a close, we took the bus back to our accommodation, packed our bags, and braced ourselves for an early departure. With one last look at Dublin, we said goodbye—not just to a place, but to an unforgettable journey.

After that, we had some free time. Elias’s parents invited our small group to lunch, which was really nice. The food was good, and we had a relaxed time together. Later, we walked through a few shops to buy some last-minute souvenirs and small gifts for our family and friends.

In the afternoon, our group – the B class and a few from the A class (since we were split into two groups) met at the Jeanie Johnston Museum. We had a look around, and a guide told us about the Great Famine and how the ship was used during that time.

After the museum, we spent a bit more time in the city before going back to our host family. Once we arrived, we played football with the kids in the garden. They made us dinner and we made them salad with pumpkin seed oil, which they really liked.

Later, we sat together and talked for a while. Then we said goodbye to the kids because they had to go to bed. We also wrote a little note in the daughter’s notebook, and she made us some bracelets, which was a nice gesture.

Looking back, we were really lucky with our host family. They were very kind, and we felt comfortable staying with them. Overall, we had a good time in Dublin.

We woke up at 6 a.m. and drove to the school where we had lesson until 12:15 p.m. Today we didin‘t have normal english class. Our teacher Paul allowed us to go in the city where we had to ask strangers some questions that he gave us. For this exercise we had about two hours, so we could spend the time we had left to walk around the city. Then we had a short break to eat something. With new energy we were ready for our last thing on our bucket-list. We went to the Jeanie Johnston. It was a very nice experience and we learned a lot of new things.

To end out perfect Dublin trip we met with our classmates for dinner at a restaurant to eat dinner. We walked around the city and enjoyed out last hours in Dublin. Then we drove back home to pack up our suitcases for out flight back home.
