8:20 AM: Walking my sister to school

I see a bunch of kids, parents, and teachers. I see dogs being walked. I see parents dressed in business professional clothes, scrubs, and etc… so they can head straight to work after dropping off their children. I see leaves turning red, orange, yellow, purple, and brown. I see squirrels.

9:03 AM: Walking onto the train

As I sit down I see a variety of different people headed to different places. I see train tickets. I see different train conductors. I see adults, kids, and little kids. I see the majority of people looking at their phones or looking out the window.

9:22 AM: Walking onto the bus

I see the bus driver. I see students on the bus going to school like me. I see bookbags. I see purses. I see people with their headphones in.

9:51 AM: Walking onto campus

I see students walking to class. I see the water watering the grass. I see a lot of squirrels. I see professors. I see students walking with their breakfast.

10:00 AM: Walking to Dunkin' Donuts

I see what I ordered waiting for me on the counter. I see people grabbing their breakfast and coffee. I see a couple students from my school as well as professors.

12:00 PM: Walking out of my first lecture

I see students walking out of their lectures. I see students grabbing food from different food carts. I see public safety workers.

12:15 PM: Walking into St. Augustine Hall's library

I see students quietly working. I see some students with their heads down. I see a whole bunch of books. I see a lot of printing stations. I see the librarians helping out students.

3:30 PM: Walking off the train going home

I see how it’s more peaceful. I see how the streets are wider, not narrower. I see more houses. I see public school buses. I see more cars rather than public transportation. I see halloween decorations.

4:15 PM: Walking my dog

I see a house being built. I see more halloween decorations. I see kids coming off the school bus. I see dogs in yards. I see kids walking home from school.

5:45 PM: Walking into my job

I see my coworkers. I see people with bags. I see people purchasing clothes. I see people having conversations. I see people walking into the fitting room.

8:00 PM: Walking outside on my 15 minute break

I see people from other stores. I see people on their way home. I see people buying groceries. I see people eating pizza. I see people with shopping bags.

10:00 PM: Walking outside going home after my shift ended

I see other people leaving from the surrounding jobs. I see people closing out stores. I don't see a lot of people in the parking lot since it's late.

Reflection/ Analysis

Overall my walk was very interesting. I honestly never paid too much attention to details when I walk, only the stuff I need to pay attention to. I really had fun recording my day. It made my project more fun and I really enjoyed my time doing this. In the Springay and Truman reading it talks about walking as a method and the exploration of the human experience and knowledge of the natural environment. That one line really stuck with me because from the time frames in my padlet 8:20 am to 3:30 pm I was doing my walk in Queens where it’s more of an urban area. I realized how narrower the streets are, how much more polluted the grounds are, and even the air even though that might be a stretch but there was definitely difference from my time frames of 3:30 pm to 10:00 pm doing my walk in long island where it’s a more suburban area and i’ve realized how much different it is from the space in every area, the streets being wider, and honestly as someone who’s lived in queens up until they were 16 years old then moving to long island and i’m now 18 years old I’ve felt way more at peace rather than when I was living in queens. Overall this walk made me pay more attention to a lot of things and I would definitely love to do this again!
