Document A shows a letter from Gandhi to Lord Irwin, the English governor of India. This letter was written before the march on the Salt Tax, as a warning to the governor. This letter shows why Gandhi’s tactics were successful because he does not disrespect the governor, he regards him as equal. This shows his regard for peace and law.

Document B tells of the March to Dharasana, a salt factory. Gandhi was in jail, but a woman took his place, Madame Sarojini Naidu, a poetess. The people were brutally beaten, but they did not resist or try to defend themselves. This shows how they trained for their protests. They were disciplined in their peace.
