My wife and I have been careful over the years to not presume about the kids preferences in speaking about relationships as they grow. My friend was nice enough to let me live at her house for that time and my high school Spanish teacher was kind of to drive me 3 hours to my college. 

Although I wasn't sure about my sexuality, I was definitely sure of my gender. After I graduated, I wanted to explore that more but I lived in a country where that was still illegal and unsafe.
